Take That

Recommended Posts

Well...

Take That are on telly now live doing a show with performances

of their hits and answering questions from the showbiz audience.

These guys are about my age and still can do the whole dancing

and singing thing, tonight they were even proper breakdancing and

spinning on their backs and that.

I'm finding it very hard not to respect them and be happy for them

for their newfound repeat success. In fact i'm really happy for these

guys as they all seem decent blokes. Not at all how i used to view them.

Am i on my own here????

:P

Paul,

I'm with you all the way. They have gone from cringeworthy in the old days (unless you were a teenage girl/girlie boy) to very cool with most people. My 15 year old daughter loves them and all her mates reckon they are slick (I think thats the word). :P

I'm not normally vocal but you are wrong Iain.

They are very very down to earth. They used to be "into themselves" but they are all really nice guys. My wife knows their recoerd exec and he couldn't believe how normal they were.

So there! :P

Take that? Never heard of em.

when I was 5 I wore out an NKOTB cassette :P Darn my brother for giving it to me before I could develop proper music preferences! :D

Since then I think one of them has attained acting credibility, another has been arrested multiple times, and another showed his wang in boogie nights :D or some combination for each

Yes. Which leads me down a similar path here...

While robbie Williams is never going to grace my CD rack (there is a Take That CD in there,

but it's Vicki's), i just can't help thinking Robbie Williams is absolutely superb as an entertainer and

that he does what he does very, very well.

For my part, i think he would make a fantastic Bond, and if they

had cast him then i'd have made the effort to see it by now.

Haha - I agree with you Paul. Couldn't stand them or their "art" in the nineties but their new song is a superb pop song, exquisitely produced and recorded - sometimes it's great what experience brings to the table.

Wayne - Bros were heaveworthy indeed but they still had at least 1 great tune!

Ok, before someone else says...

At the height of Bros's fame, Matt Goss (the good looking one) had

Two words: Roger Moore.

Nah Wayne, i kid you not here, that Robbie Williams would make a superb

Bond, not only does he look an absolute dream in a tux, but he has the smarmy

self confident air about him, he does the eyebrow thing, and stands for virtually

everything thats cool about being british.

He's get my vote.

Oh yes.

My mates used to call me gary barlow at Uni because he was my celebrity look-alike. Imagine that for a millstone when you are 20?

I will only dig the photos out if everyone admits to singing along to Back for good every time it plays on the radio in the car.

C'mon you know who you are!

Robie tried and failed to emulate the big band era singers a couple of years ago, he does not have the voice or presence to match up to sinatra and co.

who are take that? did victoria spice sing with them?

Howard refers to the 'Swing when you're winning' album.

Not heard that myself, but did hear the cover of 'something

stupid' he did with Nicole Kidman.

The 'An audience with Take That' is repeated again tonight at 7pm on ITV2!!!

Williams as Bond?? Hahahahaha! Funniest thing I've read in ages. Just because he acts like a d*ck (when the cameras are on him) doesn't mean he can act. Who'd be Q? Will Young? :)

Does anyone remember the documentary on TT a few years ago? It was a warts and all expose, including the fact that Barlow and Williams were the only ones with any talent and the rest were just fill-ins, to the point that backing singers were used for a huge majority of the recording of their songs.

Good on 'em for topping up their pension fund, I won't make the effort to change channels when one of their tunes is played on the radio, like I do when Williams is played, but I'll still prefer Bros or Kajagoogoo....:)

Stephen Fry.

Of course these bands work on the formula 'One to sing and four to fill in',

But it was obviously apparent by their performance last light (repeated tonight)

that now they ALL sing, and rather well, maybe they had lessons or something

but they are earning their money now.

Did anyone see the current Bond bloke on Parkinson last night?

Man is that guy a fidget!!! It was like someone had dropped some

ants down his back as he walked onstage...

:)

You wouldn't get that with Robbie.

Oh, and my Q would be JK as i think he'd be well enthusiastic about the toys,

love the cars and then they could duet for the title theme as an added gimmick.

Lets face it, they can't do any worse than that madonna one.

:)

This has got to be a wind up... :)

My money says Paul's left himself logged on somewhere and Vicki's taking a most dastardly revenge for some minor domestic infringement... he's probably trodden creme egg filling into the carpet again... :)

Yes I did see this advertised again in the TV colum of the paper. Thankyou for reminding me to give it a very wide birth earlier on. :)
