Evora GTE Registry

Recommended Posts

Yes fingers crossed was hoping I might make the September meet in it, wonder if the other Gav could be persuaded to pop over the hills for it?

Would be good to see three GTE's :)

So far we have managed the Oakmere and Gav's but never at the same time...

This month we have another limited edition evora, mine :D

It's limited to one Boothy owner :P

The DVLA managed to register my car a little quicker than I expected so I was able to collect it on Friday. A very special day for me and a very special car. A big thanks to Russell and his team at Lo

GTE #15 has just landed in the south of France  :

THx, I've already passed the information to Komotec. To end the week on a better note, Komotec are certain that GTE #11 will return. Probably better than ever.

Depending on where and when No10 goes from Murray Lotus after Alan collects No 9 we will have No8, No9 and No10 within 20 miles of each other and can try and get a photo of them all together at Murray Lotus.

On another topic I have been told by Simon at Oakmere that the V5 shows the car as a Lotus Evora S with no mention of GTE. That's good from the point of view of speaking to insurance company's as they won't have the GTE on their database as there are so few of them in the UK and trying to explain what it is would be a nightmare. On the comparison insurance websites it comes up as follows for my car: AU64 CNV : 2015 Lotus Evora S (345), 3456CC Petrol, 2DR, Manual

Is that the same for the other UK registered cars and has anyone had any problems insuring their car?

Luckily for you, we other UK owners have already "enjoyed" discussing GTEs with various insurance companies. I don't think it is wise to insure it as an Evora S: what happens if you damage one side and the insurance company pay to have it repaired with Evora S panels? It would look a bit lop-sided. Also the value factor: I would expect your GTE to be worth more than a regular S, so an agreed value is essential in case the worst happens.

All of this really means going to a prestige car specialist, with whom you can hold a dialogue, rather than a common-or-garden website insurer. You WILL pay a much higher premium for a GTE over and above an S. You'll probably need a tracker installing as well. I did with Adrian Flux, with whom mine is insured as a left hand drive "Lotus Evora S GTE" with a 500 quid excess on approx. 3000 miles per year.

I started a similar thread back in the spring time, which included exact details and contributions from others. I'll try and bump it up.

EDIT: sorry can't find the previous thread on GTE insurance: it may have been part of another thread. BTW you'll need to declare your 430bhp Komotec mods too.

Thanks Michael,

I probably gave the wrong impression in my post above, I am not looking to insure this car on the cheap by not declaring what it is and the modifications already made to it. That would be foolish. I will also insure it on an agreed value basis. This morning I have been organising a Tracker system to be fitted before I collect the car and I am about to start phoning the specialist insurance company's now.

Thanks for your input.

I asked to speak to Darren but got Murray at AIB. He's phoning back later with a price.

Stunning, but steering wheel on the wrong side for me. I am sure it will very quickly find a loving home.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!
