21gg
My insurance is up for renewal in a couple of weeks, so was wondering who the other owners use, mileage limitations, agreed value, cost etc. If you dont mind sharing by pm. Popular Post Drangush
Got the #6 RHD manual recently. Not an ex lotus owner. Only rented an Elise at Nurburgring and SPA before. Superb car. Though the gear change seems a bit sloppy😅 6

LotusLeftLotusRight
#6 is ex Hong Kong RHD 2+0 manual, Starlight black. Is it back in the UK now?
Drangush
Folks, where can I find the front carbon lip on the market? I have cracked mine unfortunately!
21gg
Strattons but they can be a bit hit and miss to deal with. As far as i know, and hope to be proved wrong, but don't think the factory have anything to do with them since selling strattons all the spares. How bad is the crack? Ive only ever parked forward once 😂, i repaired mine with a knife and some clear lacquer. The problem i have is that it is bonded on as well as bolted! 🙄
LotusLeftLotusRight
Didn’t one owner (Domguy?) replace his with a wooden one? I think he was damaging it on London speed bumps. Not a problem, now he and his car are in Malta! I also have a recollection that the green Stratton GT at Lotus 70 had a non c/f front lip, so maybe they don’t have any left either. I would try Mansory themselves. They still advertise the GTE body kit on their website. It won’t be cheap, but at least you’ll be getting the OEM part. 21gg
Good point, Komotec also list several parts but not the GTE front lip. A lot of the Stratton cars had 'black' parts, where I presume they were reproduced in fibreglass and painted, rather than carbon.
TheKevlarKid
Stratton don't have any, we'll they didn't when I sold my silver car in 2017. The sales guy at Hoffmans caught it on a protruding steel bolt as he was moving it around site. He was very honest and called me immediately to tell me about the damage. They contacted Stratton but they had non for sale, the ones they had were for their builds. With my agreement they sent it to Reverie for repairs at their cost. Came back looking like new, I would look to contact Reverie as it will be way cheaper than mansory Edited August 17, 2020 by TheKevlarKid
Drangush
Contacted Mansory and they still produce it. Costed 1800 euro. Expensive but not as bad as I thought . Ordered it and will post the product once received.
LotusLeftLotusRight
Nice one. Good to know they are still supporting the GTE after all these years.
BigErch
My GTE insurance is up for renewal. What UK insurance companies are owners using? I'm currently with AIB and they are asking for a validated valuation. Who can provide that or have any GTEs sold recently?
21gg
Aib look after mine, i did have it on agreed value of £100k but last year they wouldnt go over £90k. My argument was 2 fold, value wise its the cost to rebuild it /make a new one, so price of an age appropriate evora, mansory parts and cost of conversion. Secondly, im effectivley insuring £100k irrelevent of what it is, but they didnt see it that way. I had a bit if fun and games last year with renewal values which i get fed up with but it is a good policy.
jep
Lockton seem good for insurance. I have never had to claim but the service I receive is good and price competitive. Justin

Either a recent sale or a valuation, any ideas?
bingoking
That’s disappointing. Try contacting Laura at Parks of Hamilton and see what valuation she would put on it? 1 Quote Join Lotus Enthusiasts Group Scotland here! and on Facebook
LotusLeftLotusRight
You could reference the Stratton GTs at £85K. https://www.strattonmotorcompany.com/?ct_make=lotus&search-listings=true I’m with Henderson Taylor on £90k. Very few GTE sales in UK, if any, in past 12 months. There is a new owner on here, but his came in from abroad, so probably not advertised in UK. I did get a valuation from Lotus Silverstone in 2019 at £100k (they have always serviced the car), but that’s probably not practical for you, but you could ask a local Lotus or specialist dealer.
