Why oh why would they do that with the reflector thingies??? They are ugly, hideous and a complete waste of time.

They are soooo bad they deserve to be stick on thingies and the Americans deserve them spoiling THEIR cars for being so namby pamby....

Mr Chapman would not have approved in my very humble, and not so important, point of view.

Al - if you click on Jorge's link above my post you will see the pornfigurator. You can see yellow, red, blue, green ones and even select the black pack. I positively went weak at the knees then raged at the reflectors..... :)

For what it is worth I agree re the Lotus letters on the dashboard, looks really tacky, but unlike post above I think the rear seats look superb and much better than the 911 ones.

I ave seen modified cars in the US that don't appear to retain the reflectors, so how does that work?

They only have to be there on new vehicles?

Well, this namby pamby American ordered my car in CO so "the stupid North American reflector thingies on my front wings" don't spoil it as much as the faulty British wiring connectors that go to them do. :P

I also would love to see the LOTUS letters on dash top be removed as tacky in the extreme and when I enquired if could be a delete item initial indications were possibly not, as material formed round them or something......  As nobody who saw them in our large group liked them I can't believe that the feedback hasn't reached the powers that be.

Is there anyone reading this thread that likes the LOTUS lettering on the dash?  How many would opt to have as a delete option or just deleted and forgotten?  The rest of the interior is nice looking.  Much nicer gauges, but I would've much preferred an LCD type of display.

Finally found the letters on the dash that people are talking about. Have to agree, Since the Lotus roundel is in the wheel, the letters are completely superfluous. (and not that pretty either)

I think that the LOTUS letters on the dash were the one area in which opinion was unusually unanimous: everyone thought they looked tacky, like some kind of early eighties Halfords add-on!

For those that don't know what I was meaning easiest place is this thread p15 Post 298 although looks much worse from passenger seat angle, but can't find a shot presently and my own photos are at home and I'm offshore.

Obviously not having seen one in the flesh I can only go by the official photos. But I cant say either the side reflectors or the 'Lotus' lettering inside bother me that much.

This had been fed back to Hethel but it's unlikely to change I'm afraid.

Sorry Bibs but that is very bad news. Lotus have really lost the plot on that point. Otherwise, apart from the "bloody stupid North American Reflector thingies" it truly looks great.  I'll be honest and say I would be embarrassed to take passengers in with that Lotus whatever being there. Why oh why?

Are they just plastic stick on letters that you can Peel off yourself?

I hardly think they are bolted or welded in...

Wwwhhhaaaattttt! At Geneva the nicely spoken German chap agreed it was the most pointed at thing for people to say 'don't like it', and while understanding trying to brand an interior, using letters from an early learning centre is not the way forward.

I'll push the point again but I believe the designer at the time was heavily influenced by Ferrari, who use this sort of thing.

I agree it looks shit, there's no 2 ways about it!

I really hope so my friend, and somebody should ask the designer if Ferrari asked him to jump off a bridge would he still think everything they did was a good idea. Jeez, I suppose you get what you pay for and wonder if he used to design kitchens for Schrieber before they went bust?

I strongly suspect the LOTUS smeared over the dash is for the benefit of the 'Oriental' types. It's the sort of thing that appeals to them. It will probably be more accepted in the States than here as well. Personally I think it looks awful.

Bibs is quite right. The dash lettering is very Ferrariesque. Looks crap on a Ferrari and crapper on a Lotus!

One would love to think they were just stuck on and therefore could be a delete item which is why I asked, but as per my previous post on the same the dealer didn't think that simple and was waiting for detail on the truth.  The ELC comment struck a cord.  That as where I'd seen them before.  Not Halfords.  They don't do the full alphabet as too difficult for staff to get in the correct order.

Seats wise it might chavy be to many, but they will tell you it was all about the weight loss at 4.5Kg / seat or something.  The fact that bits were falling off them at the show after a week is worrying though.  Maybe my old seats sitting for sale will fetch a premium after August.......

Bill, I should think they think the same, it's about cultural differences. I was recently involved in the construction of a 65 metre yacht for a Chinese owner at Benetti. Their taste in decor is very strange compared with Europeans, glitzy naff seems to be the order of the day, with an obsession for 'labels'. Going on what I saw being fitted onboard,I should think they'd really like Lotus emblazoned over the dash of their new car

I think a few deep breaths are required here. The letters might not appear on the production car, it's far too soon to be getting upset about. I'm been guilty in the past of obsessing about things inside a Lotus based on photos, in reality the letters are most likely much smaller and less obvious than many fear. I spent a long time looking into getting a carbon centre console for the Exige but the number of times I've looked down at the centre console since owning the car can be counted on one hand. All this stuff just becomes inconsequential once you start driving the car. The colour of the brake callipers, the seat belts, a bit of stitching, all part of the spec process but something to keep in perspective.

To NOT buy an Evora 400 based on some letters on the dash is like turning down a night with Kate Beckinsale because you don't like her pyjamas. If you dislike them that much there is always a way to have things like that removed! Or touched up in black it would probably look pretty cool. My car has 'V6 CUP' embroidered on the dash. It really causes me no distress whatsoever!

LOTUS on the dash I could live with. Sure beats having PORS.... you know the rest!

In all seriousness the dash letters are very small. I think they'd look quite good in black.
