Rear plate attachement, screwed?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Am am wondering how the number plates are fixed to the V6 and if they can be screwed in place without damaging clams. I can see that the front is a metal plate so is possible, the rear is mounted to a part that is taped to the car (see diagram).

Do you have yours stuck on or screwed?

There's a topic a few down in this section which discussed it...

Isn't that about the front plate rather than the rear?

Doh, it is! Double sided tape for the win :)

Due to the spacing of my number I will need to take these off at some point, hence velcro might be a better option. Unfortunately I did this with my S2 and when on trackways in france the heat at the rear melted the glue used in the heavy duty velcro so was wondering if screws would be a better option.

Although I'd assume the rear clam wouldn't be as hot as the metal at the rear of an S2.

The heat will be coming from the exhaust so it'll still get plenty warm. Perhaps use velcro and take the plates off on track which isn't bad practice anyway. At least then it'll only be hold its own weight and not that of the plate pulling it off too...
