Head Gasket Part Number?

Artie

Recommended Posts

Guys,

As the title suggests, I'm trying to figure out what type of head gasket is on my car. I am looking thru my maintenance book and back in 2002 the head was rebuilt and according to the invoice the part number lists the number as B910E9246W and in the description section it says "head gasket set-turbo HC(high Compression?). Anyone know what the dimensions of this gasket are and if it's suitable for my engine? You have all witnessed me build my car up but am still trying to find the source of my "knock counts". I may just be paranoid but am trying to find out if the specifications are wrong for the engine.

That part no. indeed comprises the engine upper gasket set which includes head gasket B912E7029Z, which I believe supercedes all prev. head gaskets for all 4-pot 9xx engines.

Thanks Yeller, nice cars! Ever get any bits for the 7 from Pettit? I install engines for them here in KC! Matter of fact, doing a 93 R1 that needs an engine....25XXX miles! Cleanest harness I've ever seen, the car still smells new! Are you on the RX7club.com forum too?

Hi Art! 35k mi original owner, did a lot of track days and auto-x early on, but only a couple of auto-x per year lately just to keep my skills and Team Support number. Kept the powerplant stock, too many blow-up stories from tuners less adept than you, I'm sure! Mazdaspeed coilovers, shifter, PPF, and Type F seats, Farrell swaybars and catback, JDM Mazda 17 in wheels, and lots of Zaino. Got most of my parts directly from Japan via Team Support after corresponding with the home market to get part numbers and info. Now Mazdaspeed's almost a household name in the US. Used to be active on the RX7 list, but as the list dwindled, so did my activity and never really migrated to RX7club. I wasn't even aware that Pettit was still a big rotary player - nice to know, ran in to Cam way back at a PRI show not long after their 20B Banzai hit the mags and got to pick his brain about FD tuning.

After years of the RX overshadowing the Lotus' renewal, the Esprit's now getting most of my mechanical attention, though victim of many of my wild ideas. Hopefully I can get it all back together and working well in the next year.

Cheers!

Eric
