Cutting up the front plate holder

Recommended Posts

Due to the size of our UK front plates (which look huge on the Lotus) most people choose to use a 3/4 size plate on the front of the car.  As I have removed my splitter/plinth for a detail I decided that I should cut down the plinth so that it accommodates my 3/4 plate as the original is far too wide.

I meant to take some pictures before I cut it but forget (sorry!).  I used my dermel and took it slowly.  As it's aluminium it was easy to cut and didn't create crazy sparks.  Ended up using a sharpie to colour  in the showing silver, how well this will survive I don't know.  Finally used some heavy duty velcro coins to fix the plate.

A few images (along with a 3/4 size plate for reference)...

Thanks, I had no idea how this was going to come out (I'm not very good at these kind of things) but I just took it steady and I'm really pleased with the outcome.  B&C offered to do it for me but I think I'm glad I did it myself.

Westover Sports Cars did mine for me before collection - it does look so much better I think.

Thanks again to Chris for all his help.
