1991 cat and Ebpv removal - pipe replacement

Recommended Posts

Quick ask before I take her down to the fabricators

I have a cat converter - it's empty - so does not useful purpose. The Ebpv has been long since bodged. I now have an issue where the one of the three flange holes on the bottom of he cat has busted off and now the exhaust blows - yes very boy racer - but not the sound for me.

Is there and off the shelf pipe that replaces both the cat and the Ebpv?

Check SJ-Sportscars. I think they might have a decat. If it's anything like their race catalyst then the length will compensate for the lack of EBPV so you just have Turbo --> Cat --> Exhaust in the chain.

As above, the one I fitted from SJ's goes turbo -> spacer -> exhaust. Yours being a 1991 car it may not be a requirement to have a cat fitted come MOT time.

Cheers chaps - I looked on sj sports website and can't find anything

I shall give them a ring on the morning - it's either that or have a bit made tomorrow - any idea roughly how much you paid for the sj option?

When I did my EBPV I simply removed the butterfly and the shaft and reinstalled it so it looks original. Cheap.

Never done the cat yet.

Meant to add that I blocked the EBPV vacuum line as well.

One of the three holes has busted of the bottom of the cat - it maybe they can't weld a nut on there - we will see in the morning.

I need to get my two post lift working!!!

Did you retain the EBPV per chance?

Sorry fella - I've removed the guts and cut the vacuum actuator off...... Needed to retain the spacer part.

There's a s4 decat pipe listed in the parts section.

Would this fit mine???
