bwwooster 2
I've just had a quick look, but couldn't see where this has come up before, so... Has anyone converted the rear hatch glass latching mechanism from the cable-operated S1 arrangement to the external latch set up of the S2.2 cars? I've got a '75 (and will also be ditching the rear wiper, welcome to California) and just wonder how many bits from the later car I'd need. Thanks! John
Loose Cannon 582
The wiper seems the biggest PITA of the S1 hatch setup. If the cable release is working OK I'd be tempted to leave it, one less hole in the body. Maybe rig up an "emergency" hidden cable emerging below the bumper if you are concerned about failures Quote In the garage no-one can hear you scream
CharlieCroker 353
I've done this, routed the cable under the rear bumper and got rid of the rear wiper and all the other bits in the rear. Looks better and is soo much easier to pop the hatch.
eclat22 111
You could fix the cable to a solinoid and have the hatch lock open electronically or even remotely
