£485.00 for road tax!

Recommended Posts

Blimey, I thought my S2 was enough at around £280, didn't quite expect the V6 to be almost £500 !!!

Hate to think what a supercar would cost.

I like to think it costs me £4 a week more to own it, easy to live with that way.

In Belgium I have to pay 1100£ road tax every year and I had to pay 2930£ for a seperate Belgium tax depending on emissions.

Google 'Superbollo' for the Italians. I believe tax/insurance on an Exige is over £5k a year!

They also have 'Tax Police' I believe who'll pull you over and ask where the money for the car comes from!

Bit like the Le Mans Police Bibbo who take you to a cash machine. They know where the money comes from ;)

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

But no. Very much NO. On my way to work in Brussels, I come across several sections with potholes deep enough to bottom out an Esprit.

A Supercar will "top out" at £1050 for the first year and £500 a year thereafter.

Shame Lotus couldn't get the Co2 down to the next level, it's "only" £285 a year.

I think it should be linked to Co2 and vehicle price. If you have enough money to afford a £250k + car then you could pay a little more.

Co2 listings below for UK Market.

     Co2          Yr1     Thereafter

A Up to 100 £0.00 £0.00
B 101-110 £0.00 £20.00
C 111-120 £0.00 £30.00
D 121-130 £0.00 £110.00
E 131-140 £130.00 £130.00
F 141-150 £145.00 £145.00
G 151-165 £180.00 £180.00
H 166-175 £290.00 £205.00
I 176-185 £345.00 £225.00
J 186-200 £485.00 £265.00
K 201-225 £635.00 £285.00
L 226-255 £860.00 £485.00
M Over 255 £1,090.00 £500.00

Hmm, maybe the 485 is just year one?

This, I am pretty sure year one doubles and it is about £265 thereafter, not checked though.

Think you will find the V6 S is £485 a year, over £900 in the first year!. Thats how it is on the Evora any rate, the N/A is £285 a year and I believe the new 400 will only be £285 a year too!

Exige emissions are 235g/km. The Auto is 222 so in the lower bracket.

We pay the second highest rate, so a supercar with over 255 g/km CO2 pays only pays £15 more for 12months on top of our £485

£9.33 per week.

Subscription to Plumpers Monthly costs less, but which would give you more fun?

All I read is nothing compared to what we pay in Italy :censored:

A V6 is 1850 euro/year only of taxes...then there is the insurance which is at least 3000 euro (with theft insurance but without kasko) in the best of the cases

I noticed that - The 1000hp, million pound Veyron at the super at meet last night was only £500 to tax !
