1985 Esprit Turbo Project Netherlands

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.

i just bought a esprit turbo from 1985 (and a few of you also know that i just bought a esprit turbo from 1980 but thats gone be a other topic..)

okay lets start, i bought this car and it came orginal from the UK.

it had there the REG.: C637 GHD (that was back in 2009)

then the car was sold to germany, and after that to holland,

i am the second owner here in holland,

here some pictures from the car,

1tu1ax.jpg

11i1ogh.jpg

so as you can see the car has stand allready a time outside,

and the paint also is also faded away

i bought the car as technical very good,

it has a complete new engine (only have been driven now for 2 or 3 miles)

here the engine:

2mi0orb.jpg

np2m21.jpg

the engine is bought from PNM engineering a Lotus specialist,

140aq86.jpg

the parts on the engine are painted again,

and there is a lot of other work done, everywhere under the car stainless steal cables for brakes and also clutch, brakes are done, tyres just every technical is done on the car,

also the tanks are checkt at the time the engine was out, and it has now one new tank inside it,

the other one was still in good order, so no worry's anymore about that!

the interior is not in the best condition then it was, i can clean it but i just dont love the colour,

10q9gn4.jpg

292v2uc.jpg

and yess everybody knows, when you clean it, and you put some leather care on it, it will come back in a much better shape then it is right now, but i still dont like the colour,

so i bought inside canada a red Leather interior, (only without the seats) its very far away from holland, but i just love the red colour on a white car, it was always a dream from me to own a white turbo esprit with a red leather interior, so thats why i bought it inside canada (where to find a full leather esprit turbo red interior???!!!) so i am very happy!!

so the engine, technical and the interior are good (soon..) because i must still replace the interior,

the last thing to do, (if you read this topic good you know the answer) it must have a complete paint job, so the car is right now to the respray guy..:

it orginal colour is pearl white, but i want to make the car Monaco white, the owner before me did allready the bumper into the right colour, i only want to change the front bumper to a early bumper it looks much better i think, so short saying: this will be my dream esprit turbo,

(it must look almost the same as the white bond esprit from: for your eyes only)

it also get the red stripes on it, and black mirrors and i will wrap the glass roof into the body colour,

new paint, new engine, and the lovely red full leather interior!

look here where cracks inside the paint, (or maby gel coat)

he cut away everything, and then bring it back with coating, to get the same shape again,

so the cracks never come back again,

car is inside his spray filler,

and here into the first layer of pre paint (primer)

so yess its going fast right now! the guy does a great job!

when this car is done he may also do you esprit S2.

so the next project is waiting!

Looks great progress.

Only thing I would check is below where the cracks have been ground out make sure he hasnt just used body filler to fill. Make sure it was reglassed using glass tissue or else the cracks will reappear. I only ask as the grooves look too small to get the tissue in and bonded etc.

If he has just V'd out the gel coat cracks, filled & flatted them, which is what it looks like in the picture, then you'll get shrinkage of the paint a few months after spraying.
