inlet manifold gasket.....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Got the inlet manifold off my 89 se to change the gasket.

My question is, that the manual says how to take the manifold off and put it on but says nothing about the gasket itself.....is it best to use a silicone sealer with it, wellseal or just grease the gasket and use nothing???

Advice, personal preferences and comments most welcome!!

Thanks in advance

Pete

Yep. Fit dry. Designed to seal with heat.

Hi Peter,

I always put a circle of Wellseal around the water holes, on both faces.

This will help protect against seepage into the induction track which you

would not be aware of... You may also find the faces are not pure in those

areas unless you have had them skimmed, so this will help with that.

There is no reason why you can not put a coat of Wellseal on the whole

gasket if you feel it warrants.. Just don't put so much on that it squeezes

out everywhere.. But it will make it a pain to get off next time..

My apologies. I read the title as exhaust gasket. I would still fit it dry though.

Thanks to everyone for for replying, it is much appreciated. I think i will go for a thin smear of wellseal on both sides as per Daves suggestion.
