Castor Adjustment

Hello,

 

The Excel Service notes detail four shim washers to be fitted to adjust the castor angle to the correct angle - 2 x 1.5 mm, 2 x 2.5 mm - distributed either side of the bush as necessary - how do you know what to do or is it a matter of assembling equally on each side - measure - dismantle - try - measure again - dismantle etc until it is right?

 

 

Science or impirical?

 

And when in the re-assembly process do you do this - when car is rebuilt and tracking is being done?

OK - got an answer

 

The adjustments if needed can only be done when the whole car has been rebuilt and is sat on a solid, level surface 

 

So if the adjustment is needed behind the bush between the bush and the anti roll bar the roll bar has to be pulled out of the bush which requires the bar fixings to the body removing

 

hope I only have to do it once
