85 turbo esprit help

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a number of set ups for he throttle on the turbo esprits. Neither the parts list or work shop manual are very clear, The set up on my turbo doesn't seem the be set up right Currently. I wonder if I can call on the owners of 85 turbos to post pics of the different set ups. I know it is difficult request as the throttle is well hidden so any help would be really appreciated.

What bit are you having trouble with? The throttle cable?

Hi budsy the throttle is sticking and it seems to be the return spring catching on the top of the throttle cable. Spring also doesn't seem to have the correct tension to pull the throttle back. Posted pics on an earlier post but only got one reply. when I got my car it was only using the return spring at the peddle end. I have added the spring at the carb end. Bought the return spring from sj.

But the spring fouls the cable.

Christian I will have a look tonight and see if I can get a pic. I know its a bit tight space wise down there. I bought a new spring and mine feels a little too tight on the pedal. Would be nice if it was a bit weaker.

I know the second pics is a bit dodgy my phone seems to have gone a bit wankey.

I think you should be able to see what I have. The first pic shows how the spring is fixed. The second how the cable comes up and in etc.

Buddsy that's brilliant thank. you seems you are connected to the side of the throttle leaver whilst i am attached to the top which is why it is fouling the cable I will look to see if i can connect this way this evening. luckily I have another spring that i can use. another eveing spent in the boot of the car!

I think there was once someone else who had a set up coming from the top where the centre cable was fixed and the sheath was doing the work.

Buddsy you are a star all sorted. It is silly little things like this that have no detail any where that it is great to have the forum around to solve. No more sticking throttle and she is flying! Up to Mr Fulcher tomorrow for the leather work.
