Isn't it a customer commissioned car? if it is, Lotus exclusive only realized the idea of the owner/dealer to be... And as we know beauty is in the eye of the beholder so... Lotus exclusive did do no wrong.

We've seen quite a few of the special order 3Eleven on fb lately... Anyword from the company as to when the production run will end and what is the split Road vs Race?

Well you may have to wait for a while. Mind you, it is true that if the next exige uses the body of that car as its base Lotus will have another looker in the line up.

I actually wonder what the car would look like as a regular coupe.

That is great news! That means they are about to be sold out... all 311 cars. That means good money at the bank for Lotus and frees up the halo car spot in the current line up.

I suspect most of that money was already spent :)

Oh god. Don't tell me they've refurbed the Bahar bathroom with the money!

How long has it been available for now, 18months or so?

I very much doubt they have sold more than 100 of them, if half of that...

Exactly. @NedaSay, what makes you think that they've sold 300+?

That is the serial number for the roll cage by the looks of it, so yes it would suggest its No. 56 of however many made. They also do the full roll cage which will have a different part number and their own serial number I imagine. Like I say, they'll have done well if they have sold 100 of them so far but I doubt it.

They should have offered it on the 50/50, they would have shifted a lot more! I looked at one at Hofmanns a year or so ago and absolutely loved it. I had the V6 Exige at the time and if it had been available then on 50/50 I could have made the man-maths work :)

I loved my 2-11 and it's the one car I really regret selling. I sold it because of lack of use (the usual reason), but it's only when it's gone that you realise what you've done :(

This type of car relies a lot on market specific allocation, so if Lotus is closing the book on the car it generally means that the said market has received its full allocation. This type of run also relies on the split the company decided to give its product : Race version versus Road version. If Lotus is closing the book by month's end it should mean they have reached their goal either completely or for the designated market (France in this case) or the allocation by type is about to be reached. Which is purely for form as I don't think it is too difficult to go from Road to Race on that car.

One thing to remember is that the number of cars sold and visible in showrooms is different from the number of cars in the order book. The car was revealed at Goodwood 2016, they opened the order books back then. Officially, the car went into production in January 2016 but the production was "delayed" a bit - that or it takes 6 months to build one - and the first car was completed by June 2016. The order book closing can only mean that the allocation is about to be spoken for, the production may run for another 3 years depending on the production pace which is unknown to me but seems pretty healthy considering we've seen a fair number of 3Elevens in various colours since then, with a few owners are on this very forum.

The serial numbers don't alway mean much on this kind of production runs  as a buyer will be given or will ask for a specific serial number but may cancel is order so serial number will be reassigned to another dealer or buyer, the car will reappear here or there in the production run out of sequence.

I'm much more of a sceptic than you Nico! I don't think Lotus will have booked orders totalling anything like the expected 311 units by the end of this month. Maybe they have just drawn a line under the programme due to lack of sales? There's no point keeping it in their budget forecasts (buying-in components etc.), if they're not shifting them. I hope I am wrong of course!

It will be interesting to see how many 3-Elevens turn up at Brooklands on Sunday.

I remember reading somewhere that the 3Eleven run was to take 4 years to produce that's less than 80 cars per annum... or less than 10 cars per month. They may close the book before the production run is over but that would be counter productive ; as long as they produce the small chassis they can get the car made. The 3Eleven was not a super expensive car to design and engineer ; it's an Exige without the roof and a custom body.

I also anticipate a significant number of cars to make it to Japan and China as pure toy cars... Or maybe just maybe I'd rather see this as a good sign rather than a bad one.

I was in the factory last week and there was at least 6 3elevens on the production line that day so sales cant be that bad. The production line was very heavy with exige sport 380 though.
