Yeah, obviously they will go behind the seats. You've got to be pretty dense and lack even a basic grasp of physics to think otherwise, despite what the press might print. I hope that they do keep the rear seats as an option. No reason not to, I would think. And the A pillar to B pillar gap is a pretty good size. Wonder if they will do anything with the B to C pillar bit? Now we need someone to give us the nod as to when it will be unveiled. Geneva 16? Just before the summer? That would be nice.

Awesome,

I do, more often that not, actually. If the Evora is there to "benchmark" the 911, it should keep the rear seats on the roadster/targa version too. Just like the 911...but lighter.

Somebody must have bought one knowing they could fit the munchkins in the back?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Personally, I would be happy to loose the rear seats if the Roadster has a proper folding roof, but unfortunately it is going to be a Targa with removable panels.

How many people actually use the rear seats as seats?

About 50% of my mileage.  The kids love it in the back - tall 13 year old is about on the limit of comfortable.

As I said earlier, I'd be in the market for a roadster but only as a 2+2 and I think a 2+0 would limit the market significantly.  Not sure on the recent stats but weren't 90-95% of Evoras sold as 2+2 even if the rear seats aren't actually used by many?

A Boxter only has two seats, that hasnt hurt sales. If its done right, looks right, and is priced right, only having two seats shouldnt hurt it. It maybe needs a N/A engine as a lower price entry model though.

Never, ever, but I bought it with 2+2 to ease sale later as that is what the market wants. I still use the rear as a load carrying bay even although my genuine 2+0 was better at it.  I still wouldn't want an Evora with no back area for storage as the present Evora storage space counting the rear seats adds up to about the same as my Boxster S previously which is why even a R8 is a question mark purchase for me as I need the capacity too often.  It is also why the targa option is appealing to me.  However if they could work some magic and have a storage area still under a folding hood then sod the seats, that would be magic, although I agree the targa option will suit more people more of the time.

I think the CF removable roof panels are a question of cost rather than customer preference.

Having owned a car of the metal folding roof variety I hope Lotus steer well clear, It was a nightmare ownership experience for me and eventually I handed the damn thing back as the roof was so "fragile / unreliabe" when working which meant most of the time it was not working!

CF panels to lift out and store behind the seats - yup, I personally see nothing wrong with that.
Fabric as per the Boxster Spyder thingy - yup, I personally see nothing wrong with that.
2 seats in the back - yuck, I see a lot wrong with that - though I am an Evora 2+0 driver   :harhar:

Each to their own, one thing is for sure, Lotus will not be able to satisfy everyone.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

So if the Targa panels stow behind the front seats does that not suggest there will be less room in the back and the rear seats unusable.

Even if the rear seats could be used by small people there would be a risk in damaging the panels.

Nice execution but I'm still thinking that there are a lot of smoke and mirrors around the Evora roadster and that it will have a different kind of roof in the end This still looks very nice though.

Just found this article when looking for 400 articles.  http://www.topspeed.com/cars/lotus/2017-lotus-evora-400-roadster-ar170482.html Apologies if already here somewhere .  Same stuff with the US slant basically although saying only 6 months behind the Coupe.

They have this render which looks like where the previous one came from but logo removed from the door and number plate
