My Interior is hissing at me!

Recommended Posts

Possibly not the correct subforum but ah well. My interior keeps hissing at me. Constant, hiss hiss, changes with revs and speed. I'm guessing vacuum leak?

Ba not on a Monday! Ask me that question next Saturday, oh and Sunday, probably Monday too...

Should probably clarify. I'm getting a hiss from the dash, passenger side, glovebox, or behind the radio kinda area.

Does it boo as well? Maybe it's behind you.

That would be the vacuum pipes for the heater air box controls ( if its the same as my 88) . The thin plastic pipe runs behind the glove box up the l/h A pillar over the door top into the rear above the  l/h fuel tank via a reservoir on to the fitting on the rear of the inlet manifold.  As before this is only if its the same as a later car.

Does it do it when anyone else drives it, or is it specifically you being hissed at?

Left the sunroof open and the cat got in?

Sell the idea as a movie.

Could be the heater or a dangerous snake.

Alternatively it could be both - in which case be careful, it could be a 'man heater'...   :getmecoat:

Sorry, not very helpful when all you wanted was someone to take the 'hiss'

No, he died. By all accounts, he'd heard something hissing at him from the interior of his car, which changed in volume as the revs increased. Unfortunately the venomous snake that was trapped under the throttle pedal bit him ages before he got a sensible answer out of his car forum.

A sad case.

You're lucky it doesn't rattle too.

Hang on, nearside, under the dash? It'll be your viper motor.

Just trying to narrow this down a little. You sure it's hissing and not a buzz? Hive an idea it may be the heater if it swarm in the cabin. Bee careful as the cost of fixing could really sting and your queen in the passenger seat or any other honey you may have won't like that.
