rogerch 63
I have a notion to do an engine upgrade, so here begineth my research. I have a 2002 Rover engined Elise. Favorite seems to be the Honda R and 6 speed gearbox with LSD How many variants and sizes are there, are some better suited than others? Looking at the engine, induction and exhaust are reversed, as it seems is the gearbox. So how do you fit it? can you reverse the crown wheel and pinion, turn the engine the other way around? I suspect it's not that easy, engine mounts, exhaust, induction, and most of all electrics. Any one done, wishes they hadn't ? Any documented such projects on this forum? (or elsewhere) Like I say, how hard can it be. Quote Life is like a sewer, what you get out of it, depends on what you put into it. (Tom Leahrer)
xsnaperx 0
defo do it, drive a type r civic an imagin it in an elise, u seem to have some confusion about orientation of the engine, all k20a engines are the same- exhaust exiting out of the back, the engine is simply moved to the back of the car. engine mount kits are expensive, . i'm not an expert on k20 engine but i know early (51-52 plate car engines have a heavier flywheel) Ihaven't converted one yet but am going to, or buy one already done.
