Hi.

I own a 1983 Esprit Turbo that I purchased as a present to myself after my divorce.

I could have just as well stayed married. She gave me a lot less trouble than the Lotus does. :P

I am busy rebuilding the motor currently and hope to have some fun with her before she needs more work done.

Even though she is very tempremental I love my car and will never sell her.

My trusty Alfa (compared to the Lotus she is!) keeps me mobile.

I am not a serial killer. Bladerunner refers to a CBR 1000 Fireblade. My other toy and passion in life.

I am looking forward to reading the interesting discussions on this forum.

Welcome Duncan,

Wow - South Africa - How many Lotus 'Spare Parts' places are there down in that region of the world ?

Make sure you stick some pics in the garage section of the forum - looking forward to seeing those. :P

Hi, Duncan and welcome to the forum. What are the speed limits like in South Africa and are they strongly enforced? It's not a country we read about much when it comes to motoring since Formula 1 stopped going there.

How do you get on got spares and specialist work?

Anyway, Wayne, Troy, Paul and the Evil Dr. Fish among others will help you out.

Hi Duncan, pleased to meet ya :P My 83 Turbo is as relyable as a Toyota (25 yr. old Corola with 400,000 miles on it) :(

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Same with mine:D That said the more I drive it the less problems I have... they really are like a relationship, they require maintenance.

That said I find that while the Esprit troubles me as much as most women, it provides more joy than most women :( (there is that 1% of women though... thankfully, they're usually the ones attracted by the Esprit. They go hand in hand)

Thank you for the welcome guys.

As far as parts go I would battle to find wiper blades that fit in South Africa.

All my parts come from SJ Sports cars in the UK. Steve has given me good advice and excellent service.

Speed limits in S.A. are enforced. We get away with high speed blasts every now and then. I have seen 300 kph on the Fireblade most weekends the past year.

Probably the only place in the world I could get away with it!

In S.A. I have only see two Esprits in flesh except mine. I understand there is about 14 Esprits in S.A. A fairly rare sight.

I will see you guys around.

Looking forward to sharing the Lotus passion.

Duncan
