Anyone have a VIN decoder?

The VIN on my Esprit is 77430159H, and I'm wondering what that means. I know the "77" is the year and the "H" means Federal, but are any other numbers significant? What is the sequence portion of the number? Is this the 159th built?

Just curious more than anything, but thanks for the responses!

but it demands 17digit Vin-code. I'm not sure if older Esprits have shorter code?

Yeah, I saw the same one, but it was for "proper" 17-digit VIN numbers, whereas mine is before the VIN standardization in 1980.

Possibly 30th april 1977. It is English convention to have day month and year in order rather than the US month day year.

I think you are probably guessing right here. Also i'm sure the 159 is the

number of the cars manufacture, for example:

In 1976 they made 134 S1 Esprits

In 1977 they made 580 S1 Esprits

So number 159 falls nicely into the 1977 year!
