Colour wrapping an Evora?

Colin G

Recommended Posts

Need a bit of help here guys! Some of you may have seen my wanted ad for an IPS Evora, I may have found the perfect car at Bell & Colvill that was pointed out in the thread barring one issue, it's Daytona blue. It was also suggested to get it wrapped a different colour, which may be a brilliant idea but I have no experience of doing such a thing! Would anyone know any companies near B&C I could get to look at it and quote for doing the job, and maybe more importantly, are these wraps any good?

Would love to make a move on the car if this would be doable, I've emailed Jamie at B&C and I'm happy with the deal they're offering.

Colin,

I was in a similar position to you before I bought my Evora. I wasn't sure whether I would find the particular spec in the colour that I would want so I got a quote for a wrap. I went with a local Norwich company, Totally Dynamic, and I was quoted £1500 inc VAT if I chose one of their standard colours. If you choose a bespoke colour, or get the door jambs or under bonnet area wrapped, the price would be higher.

I went to Totally Dynamic because a) they were local but b), more importantly, they had evidence on their website of already wrapping a least a couple of Evoras. Unfortunately, their website seems to be down at the moment but they have franchises around the country.

Is a wrap as good as a full respray? Up really close, not it's not. But modern wraps, which have been applied by someone who knows what they are doing, are good enough that in 99% of situations, you'd struggle to tell the difference.

Your best bet would be to ask Jamie who he would recommend. I would then negotiate to get the wrap included in your deal. The price that B&C pay would be lower than the price that you pay as a punter for the same wrap.

(In the end, I ended up liking the red/black SR colour of my car so decided to keep it original).

Amiee at Lotus Silverstone has a good wrap company she uses. They gave my car the SR look and was a very reasonable cost and happy with the work. Silverstone not too far out of your way home from B&C ;)

I Keep umming and ahhing over getting mine done like the SR look? One minute I like it then next I don't. I like the roof bit which blends in with rear tailgate better and also the side sill but not sure about the front spoiler bit.

Colin,

I would buy the Daytona Blue one and live with it for a few weeks and see what you think. Personally I think that colour looks great and will certainly turn heads!

I've been trying to convince myself to do just that Dave, but don't have the bottle to risk nearly £50k on a car that I hope I'll come to love! I had such a strong bad reaction to seeing the Daytona car they had at Murray's, I can't see me taking to it.

Their website seems to up and running again.

Here's an Evora they did: http://www.totally-dynamic.co.uk/gallery/lotus-evora-wrapped-in-printed-wrap

I think there's a place near here that does car wraps, I need to see one thats been done close up and personal before deciding if it's viable. It's my own bloody impatience that's the issue in waiting for the right car to appear, but myself and the other half are planning to do the North coast 500 next month, and I'd really rather do it in something more exciting than my Saab estate! :D

Colin, I must confess I am with you in not really liking the Daytona blue, (I saw the one Bibs had on loan and last time I was at B&C the one you are looking at was there) and that's considering it's not a million miles from the colour of mine, it just doesn't look "quite right" to me. They also have a battleship (I'm sure that's not the official name) grey one at the moment. Also not my favourite colour, but I think I'd rather have that one.

Ive seen a couple of wrapped cars and they are fine from the outside but the jams and openings and joins would annoy me on my own car.

If it were me, I'd wait.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.
