Hi Stuart,

Apparently only 107 Evora S were made worldwide as MY2012...With an additional 117 being S IPS...

And most of them are being treasured now :-)

You will probably need to have your eyes wide open.

Good luck with your search.

Jorge

From doing a quick internet search it looks like around 60 Evora's registered in UK in 2012 and 95 in 2013. Some would have been NA and some S.

It's  not rocket science to know these great cars are in short supply which makes we wonder why perspective purchasers are so picky with say colour for instance. There will never be a great choice.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

That's not many at all is it. I'll be checking ph and autotrader daily from late December and cross my fingers one come up in my price range. I am hoping with warranty running out on these a few will crop up.

Those are ludicrous figures aren't they? That's just 1 or 2 Evoras per week for the entire country.

Yes, but then I would guess at least the same again for the export market so probably looking at somewhere round 2 Evora's per day coming of the production line as an average.

Doesn't sound too bad when you think it is only 1 model in the Lotus range, and Elise, Exige cars would be being built too.

But does show what a wonderful job Lotus has done with the limited funding / sales numbers it has. I know it is probably tiring to compare Lotus to Porsche again, but I do think the journalists should be  little fairer in the reviews and they should acknowledge just what a great product Lotus have created for the price. If anything, I think there is a strong argument for them journalists to ask of Porsche just why they, with infinitely more resources across the board, do not produce even better cars than they do. I think this would be fairer than just constantly bashing the little guy in the playground.

There are a couple of 2014/15 "S" models on PH but there's probably some good deals to be done on the NAs including the new one at Silverstone.

TBH I wouldn't discount the NA if you see one that suits in all other respects, there's little noticeable difference, if any, 99% of the time

Don't forget that at the time Dany Blowhard had run the car down (even on TV stating he drove a Porsche) and announced some replacement/new models so lots of people didn't buy them.....then it took a while for the new owners to get it known that they were around to stay. Not the whole issue but part of it.

Don't discount pre MY12 models out of hand.  At the moment, this seems to be where the best deals are to be had.

Have you driven both MY12 and earlier cars side by side?  Having done my research prior to my purchase I was convinced a SR was where I was going to spend my cash, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference when driving the MY11 car I ended buying (interiors aren't really my thing, so not overly fussed one way or the other).  I'm sure others will tell you they could, I just couldn't - and saved myself about £6K at the time.

I'd also echo testing the S and NA side by side.  The S is quicker, there's no denying it - but the real world difference is less significant.

You would have to be buying a mass produced car, be extremely lucky or have the patience of a saint (at the risk of never quite getting one) to get the exact car you're after.  As I mentioned above, the car I ended up with wasn't my dream spec - but it hasn't failed to make me grin yet!

I do have my heart set on a MY2012 manual s sports racer and have time to see what turns up. I definitely don't want an N/A. This is a car I am intending to keep for some time and want the tuning potential of the s. Also the improvements in the MY2012 add up to quite a different car. Even internally with the suedex all over the cabin. It just makes it feel a bit more special to me. I'll have to see what turns up and make more decisions if what I am looking for isn't available in my budget. There was a 2013 private one 2 months back that would have been perfect but that's life.

The Silverstone one is gone, I tried to buy it but was something like second or third in line. :(

It was a new/unregistered pearl white N/A Sports Racer, the ad is still on Pistonheads etc. Couple of people were showing interest in it before I was getting my chance, even though I made it clear I was ready to buy. Wasn't overjoyed about the way it all went, but to be fair I was and am more interested in an IPS this time around.

I'm hoping my 53 plate will be up for sale in 2017/2018 because I can afford a used Motorsports Green Evora 400 :D

what spec/year car had 2/3 people in a queue while others hang around for months!

The car I bought never appeared for sale at a dealership. I went for a test-drive, said I like the car but want a MY12 and the day after they rang me back to say they had a customer wanting to trade up to a 400, and would I be interested...

Snuggle up to some dealers and let them find you a car. Then haggle - worked for me :)

53 plate Joe? Have you got the oldest Evora around ;)

Stuno1, I can't get over that you still haven't bought one yet!! You're in the realms of "shouldn't meet your hero" now. I've always wanted a 928 since I watched Weird Science, but I know next to the Evora it would be a disappointment. Just hope the Evora lives up to your expectations

I would seriously look at the N/A Evora, I've driven every conceivable Evora variant as has Bibs and I think we'd both take an N/A with the IPS. As for tuning potential of an S - there are very good reasons why Lotus went a different route with the 400 rather than tweaking the 350, so unless you plan on spending serious money then the N/A has more attainable power increases with a lighter car. However, you'll be treading on Colin G's toes so stick with the S

This also reminds me of this old thread...

Given the so-far slow depreciation of the classic Evoras, it might not be _that_ expensive for you to pick up a pre MY12 car while you wait for your ideal post MY12 car to come along - plus you would actually be in a relationship with a dealer, and so they'd be keen to sell you another car...

that's an interesting thought. If I don't find a car i want by March this may be a good option. I have a relationship with Silverstone where I tested the evora. Maybe I'll call hexagon as well.

Hi Stuart, I do not think you will find a MY 12 SR because the SR-package first appeared in the MY 13 (if I remember right) In 2012 the production slowed down ...a little bit, you will find the int. / premium pack, that was offered in red, black, ivory, sand, dark Brown and blue (or olain suede without the contrasting stitching), if ordered a contrast stiching, black stiching on Brown / red / Blue leather; red on black leather, Dashboard covered in matchung leather, no suede, or - if ordered nothing - black leather and black Cloth parts.

I did yes. Awful advert! Does he want to sell it? Looks lovely paint combo wise but it also looks like a pre my 2012. Also, not sure how well loved it is. A sales advert with a dirty car always puts me off, the seat bolsters look very scuffed and the front number plate is wonky. Am i a bit anal? Yes, but this is a lot of money for me and if I can see those things then it makes me wonder what else there is....

Fair enough. Doesn't look very dirty to me apart from the footwell really. Plate is a five minute fix and the bolsters on those recaros are well known for wear, the ones on my last S were the same which is why I had them retrimmed. I think it has potential and love the colour scheme, even if the guy has a very loose grasp of English.

Will continue to keep an eye out for you though.

I loved it too. Just needed red mirror caps and a bit of gliptone on the bolsters. If I was looking, I'd be test driving it and I even have a little model; of it

40K is far too much for a private seller MY11 car.  Although I do like the seats with the SuedeTex inserts very much, & I'm guessing this is the (superior) Motorsport Black rather than Starlight.
