Esprit steering rack lockstop available anywhere?

Recommended Posts

Now the matter of front wheels hitting inside fender seems to be solved.

In the workshop manual page 597 has a description of the problem and solution of it.

Now I need lockstop, part number : P691.3203.003 , but it seems to be hard to find. At least the most of the companies websites does not recognize the part number.

If anybody has this part or pair to sell, I would be very interested. Or if anyone has a part and can provide the measurements of the part, we can manufacture it here.

Hello Ekku

Used on the Elise as well apparently and about £8 each: http://www.elise-shop.com/advanced_search_result.html?keyword=P691.3203.003AF

There's another TLF thread on this here: http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/46080-fitting-lockstops-to-s4-power-steering-rack/, so it's probably a common rack between S4 on and Elises?

Hope that helps

Cheers

Alan

Thanks for help. I did notice the part in the Elise-shop, but the steering rack of Elise looked different, so I was not sure if it fits.

I did move my Esprit to the winter storage after a long stretch of service and repair.

Almost all of the aicon system is now rebuilded and it seems to hold the pressure in and works. I probably have to add more R134 to the system in the spring. my coling system specialist thought that the one kg which is the amunt the workshop manual indicates is not enough. The pressure seems to be a bit low.

The cambelts and the related stuff is renewed, driveshaft seal and oil replaced, leaking power steering pipe repaired, high beam lamps replaced, small crack of the body repaired, brake fluid changed and the brakes otherwise checked, battery replaced, gear knob changed, front ball joint rubbers renewed, airfilters renewed etc...

We also checked the ride height and it is 165mm in the both ends. The rear schocks seems to be Protech with the original springs and the front end looks standard.

The test drive was a delight. I was not able to evaluate the cornering much, because the temperature was just 3-4Celsius degrees above zero and some parts of the road was wet. Tires are also very old. I have new ones, but there is not much point to put them on for garaging.

I only have one ride with this car previously. It has beens sitting in my garage 2 years now and now I am really waiting for the spring :)

Everything seems to work nicely and yes, it do accelerate nicely enough. It was surprise to me how quick it revs from 4000 revs to limiter in the first 3 gears.

By the way, we discovered that the throttle valve was not opening fully. There was about 1/4 of the movement missing. Does the throttle wire stretch or is there any other reasonable explonation for this?

Now it is opening fully and it is as it should be.
