Wiper problem diagnostic help

I'm have a problem with my wiper. Here are the symptoms:

1. turn wipers on and I can hear a buzzing under the dash. Wipers don't move.

2. Get out and manually move the blade. It's stiff, like the arms/linkage are all attached.

3. manually move blade, about 1/2 - 2/3rds of the way through the motion all of a sudden it turns on and finishes the wipe, and returns to the bottom position and just sits there. 

So bad motor? and if so, is there a write up on getting that thing out from under the dash?

Sounds like the gears in the drive unit. Lots of fun to get to in just about any car.

Has the blade been off and on? Regardless remove the blade, turn it on and watch if the spindle moves properly. If so refit the blade after it's self-parked and re-test. Tell us the result.

I pulled the motor assembly today and confirmed that the plastic gear inside the motor gearbox is trashed. Are the gears available anywhere?
