door mystery part

Does anyone know where this goes? Small round plate with a clip, have removed the vinyl trim. Found it in a bag labelled LH door but can't for the life of me remember where it goes!

Assuming it's about 2" in diameter it goes over a hole in the upright where the door bolts to. The upright has carpet covering it which means you can't get at the lower nut on the door hinge bolt. So there's a circle cut out of the carpet to allow access, should you ever need to take the door off, and that thing covers the hole. If anybody has a spare I'm your man as one of mine is missing.

Thanks Paul! Item is about 2 1/4 inches diameter, so I reckon you've identified it correctly. I only seem to have one, so looks like one of mine is missing as well...

Not too difficult to make. Did it have any foam under the vinyl or is it just vinyl straight over the metal?

When I recarpeted I didn't replace these (I actually only had one anyway, this seems to be a trend).  I didn't put too much glue on the metal part and can quite easily pull the carpet away to allow access, and re-tuck it back into place.  A cleaner look without the cover imho.

One of mine had rusted completely through...small pile of iron oxide....never did replace it!
