I'm offshore so can't help with photos at the moment but years ago I'm sure there was a thread on this or it was in a thread.  I even vaguely remember a photo but as I struggle to remember what I did last week I could be wrong!  I had it disconnect once and Craig Moncrieff & his boys when at MMC had it refitted.  It is actually elastic isn't it?

I'm sure Craig would be willing to give pointers how it goes together over the phone if you called him at a quieter time.  i.e. after 10:30 and before 15:30.  He is now running his own place if you haven't followed any of the LEGS threads. (why would you) Google Craig Moncrieff Cars and say you are on the Forum and Al. said to phone. He may call me names but don't worry! :D

My glovebox string has broken this weekend - I can't work out at all where it attaches!  It looks to form a loop in to a crimp that's attached to the glovebox itself but where it hooks over in the recess is completely beyond me!

If anyone has managed to work this out please let me know!

Hi Dean, I removed the string when I took my dashboard out (you have to remove the whole gloebox assembly to do this.

From memory there is a rubber bung on a plastic pin which it attaches to, and it just pushes in and out.  Its tucked up quite high if memory serves, i would suggest getting your hand up inside  and having a feel.  I tool the following photo of the pin when I was doing the removal, it may help:

There's a pretty good glove box repair thread on the forum over here. It includes a write up with diagram and photos. I'd post a link but I've been previously reprimanded for that.

That's quite sad to be honest. Forums are supposed to help people. Hey ho...

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Just twist all the glovebox repair threads together and make a new glovebox string. :sofa:

I've just looked through all your posts (it's nice seeing pics of your car so it wasn't a chore!!) and couldn't find that. You can post links on here, we're very cool with it in reality if it's helpful to the thread - as you can see a moderator has done it.

For what its worth, back on October 24, 2015 I received a private message from a moderator advising that I violated Rule #2 by promoting another Lotus website without express consent. The message (not sure if you can see my messages) was to tell me to stop posting links to another Lotus forum without having it cleared by you first. I believe it was in response to a post I made in the "help! clutch gone?" thread. I apologized and assured the moderator that I had no vested interest in any forum of any type and I reap absolutely no benefits. But, I refrained from any further links, even though there may have been great information to be gleaned.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic here..... If your good with it so am I :)   Thanks for clearing it up for me!!
