Esprit gathering?

What are peoples thoughts on trying to get a massive Esprit gathering together next year?

 

My thought are to contact an organiser of an existing show and see if they could accommodate us as the TLF club?

 

At the moment this post is just to see how many people would turn up in Esprits and any thoughts on locations ect.

 

How would people feel about Blenheim Palace classic car show August time? Nice venue with something for everybody there?

There's always that little event the Lotus Festival in August. I'm sure the organisers would arrange a large area for Esprit's if you asked real nice.

Yes I was thinking that, but it would be nice to do an extra show/gathering too. Lets see what people think and the numbers then if its worth doing we can work on it early next year.

Always looking for an excuse to take a drive - I have not been able to commit to anything this year.

better to have an event with something else to see. I love everything Lotus but I also like seeing what else is out there. 

The Blenheim website is lacking detail of their classic show. Do you have any details?

However, if they are both in August, this might just dilute both events? Any other options you had in mind? What about spring?

Silverstone Classic? July and pretty central for everyone.

I think it would be great to see a mob of Esprit's together.

It might be too early to see the events for next year at Blenheim but its always on and its a very nice event.

I agree that  the August date might clash with Brands. We want more events to do not loose out on them.

As mentioned Silverstone classic could be good, but they might be hard to deal with unless we have definite numbers?

How about the Lotus meet at Chatsworth?

Any other ideas welcome.

I'll be visiting MBW/Brooklands shortly to set the date for TLF Intl Lotus Day for the 3rd year. We had 250 Lotus there this year and room for up to 1,000 and this will be late April or more likely early May again.

Yup, deffo up for this. I mentioned a V8 gathering earlier this year at a very car friendly location close to me in the Cotswolds, so could have a run out around some gorgeous Lotus friendly countryside. Plus a lunchtime pub stop at somewhere relevant. It didn't happen but I would happily expand the scope to any Esprits if people consider it an option for next year.

I'm going to all of the TLF/Bibs and Club Lotus events I can next year anyway hopefully so something Esprit special would be an added bonus date in my eyes.

Well that seems like about 9 yes's so far. Not many suggestions of venues, how about Donnington classic in May? always a great event with lots going on infield and on track not quite as chaotic as Silverstone and some very cheap ticket through Club Lotus. I feel it would be nice to get 50 or more? I can probably get about 10 Esprit's locally. 

Try to count up the number of yes's and add yourself as the next number when we hit  a worthwhile number we will get it done.

 

Come on Esprit owners think how good it would be!!

I think the place for this to be is where it all began - Hethel. Combine it with a moving Esprit show on Lotus track action on the test track. Alex and the Heritage Track day guys are well connected and have organised Factory and CTL tours conducted by Guy M. All good. Would make a great Lotus day.

Would it be possible for a location to be a little more central? Probably get a better turn out.

Gaydon Motor Museum perhaps or maybe a bit further North?

I agree, a Heritage Track Day at Hethel is the ideal place for this. You don't have to book for the track - but it is the ideal track day for the older cars if you want a go.

Hmm, I did say 'any excuse' but a 400+ mile round trip might be a slight stretch. I guess it would depend on the importance or draw of the event.

Keep it central please, last year we had a 1500 mile round trip, admittedly we took in a good few other sites at the same time but Brands was Favorited for us from the North East of Scotland.

Not the most positive write up!

We had over 100 at the factory in 2006, when LEF was only 3 years old. It took Kimbers and I 6 months to organise, was a lot of hard work!
