Venom Red

(thought about calling this thread "Pink Leather" to keep @cocopops happy!)

Tried searching on here and the internet, looking at trying to identify the manufacturer / source of the Venom Red leather used by Lotus as a want to buy some! 

Anyone on here know, or, have a contact at the factory I should ask?

So, as part of my continuing work to upgrade / keep my Evora in top condition I fitted new Venom Red Sports Racer seats from Lotus via the Motorsports Auction site. They're beautiful seats and at first, I wasn't sure how they'd look in an Ardent Red car but after fitting them all I can say is wow. I really like and it has achieved my aim of lifting, enhancing and lightening up my interior.

It took me about 70 minutes in total, but that was just because they were awkward to get out and in. But if I can do it, anyone can....  Some before, during and after pictures:t

And no Lee, they're not pink seats!

Now just need to give my car a nice clean, polish and then clean and treat the old seats ready for sale.

Looks like they work. Has to be said though that in some of your pics the shade looks the same colour as my dogs.......how can I put this ........ 'Gentleman', when he gets a bit over excited.

Not as pi... as the Paprika and look darker in the flesh but hey, I like 'em and that's all that counts

You're right!

its ok, the vx guys had similar ribbing, the calypso red photos as pink. For some reason the camera just can't see it as red.

Premium Sport Suedetex dash and door trims in grey with red stitching, gaitor and handbrake and venom red leather door pulls. Debating on venom red centre console top. Might go for suedtex here too. 

On Tuesday she is in getting custom front car mats, black carpet with red leather piping. One piece full length secured with front seat bolts. Should make sliding the feet and legs in much easier.

Have a picture I'll upload when I get home of finish looking for. Lot of surface water today but clear blue sky so had to go and drive after the LEGS meetup. Nice steak and onion baguette just now!!!  Don't tell the wife as it came with chips.....

I'm staying at the trim shop whilst they are being done to take some photo's for my Evora scrap book. Keen to build up a nice history file for any future owner so they see exactly what was done, the condition before and after, etc.

Just noticed that the Recaro Venom Red seats on Motorsport Auctions are down to 4 sets.

They were stuck at 11 sets for months so looks as though my plan of making a cheeky offer on a pair to keep as spares is now a certain non starter

I might be somewhat to blame for advertising what a great deal they were when I bought mine. I really like them and refer to them as kissing pink as opposed to venom red - just to keep @cocops happy!!! -  hahaha...

Having met Andy on Sunday and getting a look over his car, I can confirm his seats are not quite the same shade as my Weimaraners winky when he's feeling frisky, which I'm sure is a relief to anyone looking at buying one of the remaining three sets.

Lol - I'm really glad to hear that. Just at the upholsterers getting the fitted front mats made and installed. Piccies to come including a 7.8ltr beauty being restored!!!!!

Fully fitted using the front seat bolts as retainers (helps to tilt the front seats up slightly too) and full length one piece, instead of the factory fit two piece set-up. Same carpet and leather that they use on RR, Bentley, Riley, Jaguar, Wolsely etc. restorations so should last the lifetime of the car now. Picture below (non Lotus black and red car!  ) is an almost finished 7.8ltr Rolls Royce (with very discrete modern attachments such as rear reversing camera, parking sensors front and rear, cruise control etc. - this car gets used and driven, not just a show car.....!)

Also, a beuatiful Jaguar XK150 was in being re-upholstered and a new customer made fabric convertible roof. Had a great time exploring the engine shop, bodywork shop, etc....

Don't know how I missed this post but I do like the carpets red edging and they don't clash with the pin.... Kissing Pink seats either. 

As you have openly stated that SWMBO has never been in the car and that 99% of the time you drive alone just who is the kissing referring to?

Well, lets just say the kissing is with something that has a gorgeous shape, lovely, some would say a classic curvy waistline and a bigger bum - think Monroe lying down on the bed. Then there's the noise - oh that purring with contentment at tickover with howls of pleasure when she is being driven hard. Then the softness and suppleness of that red leather..... 

I did give the wife a quick peck on the cheek when I wished her merry christmas, but Scarlett, well I put on some nice lambswool mitts, got out my best liquids, whisked up a lather and gave her body a right good rub down for xmas. We were at it for a few hours Al and I was well knackered..

She looked great when I tucked her up in the garage. Having Scarlett as a mistress is great, my wife even made me a cup of tea as she could see how Scarlett had worn me out.

Bliss at xmas in my house.... what a lucky man I am indeed.

So, at long last I got my re-trim done. The first picture shows the interior of my standard 2010 NA - a bit dark all over really.

The subsequent pictures show my version of the premium sports racer look as I continue to slowly upgrade, fettle, play, cosset, love my Evora!  I used Alcantara instead of Suedetex (the trimmers at Allon White confirmed it was the better material) and for anyone interested colour #9002 is the closest match to the Suedetex used by Lotus (incidentally, Allon Whites can get the suedetex if anyone needs it). They also fitted the MY12 door pulls and then are so much better than the originals and now with a nice padded leather feel too.

My wheel was redone by Royal Steering Wheels as per an earlier thread, I added the metal gear know from Elise Shop, and had customer overmats made and trimmed with red leather (other thread). So, my scheme is now alcantara, venom red and contrast stitching throughout. I really do have to say that my interior now, feels every bit as special and premium, as my friends Bentley GT and even he is very very impressed. I love my metal dash and centre panel too, they just now positively ping with the new interior.  Hope you enjoy the outcome.

was it expensive? Might have to look into something similar for the console top, to tie in with my heritage edition seats with the yellow stitching etc.

Sent you a PM Lee. Does anyone know if you can get a handbrake lever in the brushed metal (to match the gear stick ball) as opposed to the leather wrap?

My seats need some tidying and I'm trying to buy a leather paint to match venom red.....without any success.

Your centre console leather.....is it a close match? Whats the name of the colour please?

Hi @Reindeer - all my work was done by Allon White and yes they found the supplier to Lotus and got the "proper" Venom Red so it was a perfect match (I had bought the Venom Red seats from Lotus when they had decided to sell them off). John Bellinger is your man at Allon White. A really nice gent to deal with and he was great arranging the work for me. Highly recommend them their work was superb and everything came back tickety boo.  Good luck!
