Removing rear seat base for child seat?

Everything is just held in with velcro and just pulls out.  It is here you will find the emergency boot release under the squab on the offside/right hand when you lock your one and only set of keys in the boot when out somewhere when you throw jacket in there after opening car.......    The other set hanging up at home aren't much use then.

I haven't a clue about the legality however or the safety for the baby seat.

There are also a couple of Lotus clips towards the front of each edge of the seat base.

"Lotus" clips meaning that they probably popped off as the car left the factory

Read on the American site there are 2 screws under each of the rear head lads that need to be undone then it's all Velcro.

These must be part of the 120 upgrades or whatever we had for 2012 models as mine have just pulled out in all 4 cars inc. the current Feb 11 registered car.  Only once had the seat back out in any of them though to be fair, in the LE car.

Maybe but, if mine is a representative example, one of the said clips won't be fastened and after half an hour of trying to clip it back you just accept that they are a bad afterthought

Wow, I just could not do that to my car and drive it and be happy - at least cover it with some bubble wrap Stu!    hahahahaha......

I'm a selfish bastard though which is why I was happy to go for the 2+0 - come to think of it, I should just ditch the pax seat to save weight - the loss of that and the wife in the front would save me around 150 Ilbs....  Hmmm, that's got me thinking now.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Haha. Some funny comments here. If some aesthetic loss it what I have to sacrifice for this epic car then so be it ?

I didn't think I'd have to strip both pads but her seat has never been so secure. Agreed it looks a bit poo but it works I guess. Also reduces weight (clearly the motivation as it will make all the difference to my driving experience ?) and means they are stored away and so toddler proof!

Black blanket?  No?  Wouldn't be hard to hide that mess mate and when I said 'a bit',  I meant 'very'!

If you have OCD I can't imagine you surviving the weekend with your spanking new car looking like that.

Surely the lotus way is to buy a new car seat that isn't as bulky as that one?

Err, ok! The exposed chassis in an Elise is wonderful and a testament to the engineering which made it such a revolutionary car. What you have there is just a mess which is meant to be covered by the seats that were supplied.

And you honestly can't think of any way of securing a blanket in place to stop it looking so awful? There's this stuff called sellotape, that may help - comes is all sorts of colours and everything.

If anyone sees your car like that, they'll think it's broken! Strange boy...

I thought about doing this too.  Then i decided to let my two boys man up and start learning the sacrifices of owning a toy like this :). They'll thank me in the future...!
