GTE insurance

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I should have started a new thread for this but my insurance is up for renewal and wanted to know what insurance companies other GTE owners use.  There seems to be some confusion with underwriters as to what these cars actually are (evora sr seems to be the default) which could present all sorts of problems in the event of a claim.

Admiral certainly have the GTE in the drop down list, I know this because when I selected it it was a few quid cheaper than my SR! (Ok, ok, if I had upped the declared value to that of a GTE then it would have been different :) ).

Whether you would want to insure a GTE with Admiral, or not, is another subject entirely ;).

Dom, a few owners have discussed these cars with various insurance companies. The names mentioned so far are Adrian Flux, AIB and Henderson Taylor. I did the donkey work with Kane Ashwood in Adrian Flux' specialist car department. This involved various phone calls, e-mailed photos and a letter from Lotus. Consequently mine is insured with them (AXA High Net Worth Delegated Scheme) as a LHD Lotus Evora S GTE, with an agreed value (what I paid Lotus Cars), 500 quid excess and Tracker fitted.

Come my renewal time next Spring I will try all of the above (plus any others you find!) for the best deal. Let us know how you get on.

Mines with AIB , full Euro cover, business use, any driver over 30 , 5000 miles, fully comp on other people's cars, required a tracker, a grand.

Yes they have mine down as a gt350 even thoughblog book says evora s, obviously.
