Bibs
Trump is already suing Nevada for keeping it's polls open, like they're meant to if there's a queue. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-elections/donald-trump-sues-nevada-files-lawsuit-polls-open-extra-long-us-election-2016-a7405346.html I'm sure I read earlier that he said that this election has been a waste of time and money if he loses. mdw
That's a bit embarrassing for the US. Doesn't say a lot for the average Americans does it. Chillidoggy
Now it'll be all the online hand-wringing and moaning about how Trump supporters didn't deserve a vote because they're clearly incapable of rational thought, and how their despicable actions have produced the wrong result. I imagine we won't have too long to wait, either. 2 Quote Margate Exotics.
Gold FFM C8RKH Posted November 9, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 I think, contrary to some posters above, that it says a lot about the American people. This was an anti-establishement anti-status quo vote. This was normal, plain Jane Americans speaking up against the self enriching establishment. Good for them. Like with Brexit only time will tell if the courage to vote for change will be rewarded or punished. The negative naysayers are again out in force peddling their version of doom and gloom. Tell me guys, where did you get those crystal balls from that so accurately foretell a future of doom and gloom? I'm not saying Trump is good or bad for America. I am saying he will be different. As for Hollande, Merkel and the faceless unkown other European leaders I'd be concerned. Very concerned. Right now in Democracy's all over Europe, all over the West, the normal people, the hard working, tax paying, law abiding people. theelanman
wont really matter about the exports to the US......one of his plans was to scrap free trade agreements and levy a tax of between 35 and 45% on all imports into the US...... I totally agree, this was mainly a vote of protest from people not wanting another puppet dancing to the same old politically correct music and getting nowhere. At least now they have a president that speaks his mind. Let's hope he listens to his advisors (after picking the right ones) and can make something positive from all this. After the results of the Brexit, I can't understand why so many are surprised by the results. The polls were always very close, and the more outspoken votes are underrated in polls. It is known. 1 Quote I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

ramjet
Since a lot of the political watchers etc all said that Trump would probably get done in the marginal seats and the polls were kept open for an extra two hours in Nevada, which they expected Trump to lose as well I think, is this a vote by scared Americans that see someone willing to not be PC as their president, or is it a vote based on racism as so many in the media have said? Gold FFM Popular Post Escape Posted November 9, 2016 Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 @C8RKH Difficult questions. Mainly because I try not to concern myself with politics, as I have little faith in out current democracy (despite being a civil servant myself...). In Belgium we are legally obliged to vote, although a growing number including myself don't and there are no consequences. But the obligation does influence the outcome. Politicians don't need to motivate people to go and vote, which is generally seen as promoting more extreme views, as those with moderate views or less/no interest are more likely to stay at home. On the other hand, being forced to vote can lead to a greater umber of protest votes. We have seen this in Belgium in the past, but in a typical Belgian compromise and made possible by the Belgian multiparty system, the traditional parties made a pact (despite many differences) just to prevent the party with the most votes to get a seat in the government. If that counts as democracy, I don't need it... It is this kind of behavior, along with ever increasing legislation and regulation, in no small part due to the EU, that makes people turn away from the establishment and look for alternatives. I do see a lot of scared reactions from Belgian politicians, especially the left wing. They're right to be afraid I think. People all over Europe, just like in the USA, are getting fed up with the current class of politicians. Gradual change seems too slow and politicians bound by compromises can't afford to upset the system. So people are more susceptible to those who (seem to) promote a break with the past. Like a Brexit. It strikes me that a lot of those claiming to support real democracy are the first to cry outrage when the results of a vote don't suit them. This happened with the Brexit, and now Trump's election is being questioned. Maybe they should look at the system that produced such results instead. The largely colored media reports could have helped Trump as well. They made him the underdog, but he stood his ground which probably made him win a lot of votes over just parading a bunch of celebrities. But as said, I don't really care about politics, I just want to live my life, drive my cars and take care of my loved ones. Filip 5 Quote I have made many mistakes in my life. Popular Post Kimbers
From all the piss and vinegar from the bleeding heart liberals and Anti Brexit supporters I have just posted this on FB. Stop it all of you. Firstly, Clinton was not a viable option after last nights other votes where both of the other houses have been dominated by the Republicans. What many have missed is that this would totally tie the hands of a Democrat president and definitely Clinton, who is universally hated by the Republicans. They would simply refuse every policy she tried to change. Having a President who has her hands tied would be so much worse even than Trump. At the end of the day, all us British and European people didn't have a choice and therefore please stop bleating. It was the American people who had that choice and made it. Personally I wouldn't have chosen either as a Presidential candidate. After all a choice between a corrupt professional politician who would continue the Establishment line and change nothing and a Mysogenistic businessman (who may be the only person ever to lose money running casino's) who only offers uncertainty, definitely aren't gonna get a "normal" vote here in the UK. But these are what the American people chose. so live with it! At the end of the day it's an anti establishment, anti politician, anti "same old shit" vote and yes it is like Brexit. So in summary............shhhhhhhh. Let everyone involved get on with the results of their democratic vote and get on with what you can change in your life.
