Spinney 752
My son is watching it in the US and tells me it’s being discussed on the news channel whether they can impose an emergency impeachment before Jan 20th. Popular Post mg4lotus 159
You have to think his visits to Putin's Russia and Kim Jong-un in North Korea were more of a fact finding mission for the wannabe tin pot dictator to see how they do it. 3
EldonZ 65
Trump's twitter account has been disabled for the next 12 hours. It is interesting that all of the upper brass was consulting with Pence, not Trump, when this was going down. The leaders have basically invoked the 25th amendment but won't make it official. That is another sad statement. Later, Eldon
drdoom 421
It's an error to shut down the Donald's Twitter account as he's verbally incontinent and would persist in counselling sedition if given the mike. The evidence of the folly of his being elected is now past where the believers can reasonably refuse to see what they have brought upon the nation. Above all, Trump's legacy will rest at the feet of this week's travesties and that is the single just thing about the sad saga of #45. America will do better.
EldonZ 65
I disagree! You cannot let the instigator continue to create rhetoric that keeps the Mob active He will NOT admit that he did anything wrong. His followers will only read from his tweets what they want to believe. Later, Eldon
snowrx 184
I wish I was surprised to see how fast the coup plotters and enablers changed their tune when their people came to visit them at their house, at the President's request. Popular Post Loquacious Lew 336
Report from the Colonies: What a day! And who but the 'police' didn't see this coming? Well actually, that's a long story and as it's still unwinding I'll reserve my opinions for later when history reveals what position I can claim I saw coming weeks ago. But here's my thinking off the cuff. The Capital is Federal territory and guess who has ultimate control on Federal territory? Hey! You guessed it! It's the President. And that's why we didn't get the big boys in fully armored vehicles in right at the start. Somebody had to get them there but it wasn't Trump it seems. It was Pence. so Pence is out as you've reckoned he would be. Trump is off the rails and everybody, and I do mean everybody is on tip toes and tenterhooks. A very awful day and Trump must surely be booking his tickets to Moscow but God knows what might happen in between. A shameful episode. What a bunch of weasels our so called conservatives are. Although, their spinelessness has finally undone them and now they're talking about how to cooperate and how they need cooperation too. Their feelings are hurt! They are truly a miracle of nature in their chameleon like abilities to assume the background. But what patriots! We'll get through this and Biden and Harris will be sworn in. And the Senate will flip so that may be better. An interesting question to ask is: " does the man make the times, or do the times make the man?" As we always say when the Democrats get in, "I wouldn't want his job." But Biden is experienced, and savvy. We are in a dangerous spot but the line of succession is very clear. Trump is such a coward and he really should be changed, and tarred. His enablers are barely better, if at all. They are taking about Article 25 and I suspect Pence would comply at this point but it's all just too mad. Those darn Republicans! I hope I have made myself clear! I will report again tomorrow with another fair and completely unbiased Report From The Colonies!! 2 2 Quote '17 Evora 400 MT
Loquacious Lew 336
Also, do you not think Putin is just doing back springs? What a total success! It feels like he just won a war. Wow. And one more thing. There will be a lot of third party talk and this time it is serious. But first we need to get through this crisis. 1 Quote '17 Evora 400 MT

andydclements 790
The worst of this for me, is that Trump probably believes his own words, that he won the election, it was stolen from him and he he needs the people to prevent an injustice. It's sad that I think he has become so delusional. I'm still wondering about the news story of plans to come to Scotland for golf on the day that Biden takes office. I have visions of Sturgeon putting traffic cones across the runway.
Barrykearley 6,987
What this does actually highlight though - the need to remove the postal voting system. It’s clearly not fit for purpose and can be subject to widespread electoral fraud. Not saying this is the case here - but it simply wouldn’t be an issue had there been no postal voting. There's nothing wrong with the idea of postal voting itself, as long as it is robust, but it is possible to have fraud on in-person voting so they both need to achieve similar standards of security. This problem would never have occurred if Trump hadn't claimed (falsely) that there was proven mass fraud.
