One of the most pleasant lotus evora findings...

.... Build quality. All you hear about (probably from people who have never owned one) is how poor and slap dash lotus build quality can be. My evora is a delight! No squeaks or rattles, it feels solid and well made, quiet when cruising, no issues with it at all. Very impressed.

My Evora has had one issue since I bought it 6 months ago - the drivers window actuator failed and it was fixed straight away, no hassle and no issues. Not bad for a 5 year old sports car really.

Like you Stuart I have no squeaks, no rattles and everything is well screwed together. No complaints at all from me and my is a pre MY12 model where the quality apparently jumped hugely!

It's the reverse of the legend that says you "can't get better than a german car for engineering and relaibility quality" - that was the case a couple of decades ago, then Mercedes blew it in the 80's and early 90's and have been trying to recover since. BMW then blew it in the late 90's and 00's and VW over the past 8 years or so. Just look at the reliability reports from the independents for proof.

I guess both examples show how long it takes to change public perception!.....

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

All very true. I came from a 2008 flag ship Lexus as well so that says how well lotus do even more in my opinion. One brand that has a stigma of poor build quality and one that sells its self on build quality.

After a few weeks mine developed a nasty rattle that seemed to be coming from somewhere near the front of the dash, really really annoying because the car was otherwise creak and rattle free. Then I realized it was my cheapo dashcam rattling in its mount .

When it comes down to build quality, there are two types, perceived: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKQIUJOr1GA

and actual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl2U1p3fVRk

Unfortunately these days, it seems that advertising the fact that your products have the latter is seen as naive and it's all about keeping the cost down and the perception up.

Barring one issue, that could have happened on any new car (which Oakmere dealt with extremely quickly and professionally), the car has been perfect.

Yup, that Honda advert was pure quality but you could still see where computers / CGI / stop start filming helped!

Somehow Lotus needs to stop the Journo's talking shite about quality and then it will start to permeate down etc...

I've owned four German cars -

1st was an A3 that developed an engine management fault that couldn't be resolved. SOLD

2nd was a Porsche 911 that had contstant fuel management issues and was of the era that suffered from catastrophic engine failures on a large amount of cars, but gets swept under the carpet. SOLD

3rd was a B7 RS4, good old engine management faults again that no dealer could resolve, was fobbed off with "they all do that sir" SOLD

4th was a new style Z4, can't say if the reliability on this one was any good as it was just such an overwhelmingly awful piece of crap that I traded it in for my first Evora S before I had even used the first tank of fuel that came with it.

German reliability? Bollocks.

Ah, well, Loti.

1st was a Lotus Elan SE Turbo. Brilliant unless you wanted to stop quickly, which if you did had to be put in writing to the brakes at least a week in advance.

2nd Was my first Evora S. Nothing went wrong with it during my ownership.

3rd is my current Evora S, nothing to report so far.

4th Well, who knows......

:D

So if your car ownership was a game of football it would be Norwich 4 and StuttenMunichBurg United 0.  Lol.

Take care of Loti #4 she could be mine in a couple of years!
