Recommended Posts

Calm down gents!!!! not of the untrimmed variety!!!! :D

Dougs post in the S Tech room has raised a question in my head....

Does anyone do or can recommed a supplier for a full set of bushes for a 84 Turbo??

E-mailed PUK but they only advertise for the later Esprits so I'm guessing they cant help.

Any help guys???? Looking to start on the Esprit en mass.... now I've bought wheels and brakes my motivation levels seem to have elevated!!! :P:lol::D

Cheers Guys

Meant to add I was looking Poly Bushes

Seen the Lotus ones on LEW but they seem a little pricy for the number that are there..!

Kato if your reading this, do you know if Lotus are looking to supply a full set for the early Turbos or am I just hoping for a bit much?? If so any time scales or prices??

I fitted the poly bushes on the lower arm. Front one was easy, the rear one was a real bitch trying to get the bushes and side washers to line up on an interference fit! Eventually made up a tapered drift to get them aligned.

My S3 has Poly on the lower wishbones at the front and (Steve recommended) standard rubber and metal ones on the upper wishbones at the front. The rear hasn't been done.

For the turbo, standard rubber on the upper fronts, poly everywhere else (except steering rack).

Steve's (SJsportscars) are really easy to fit, as long as you remember to do that little trick with a long bolt and 2 nuts to ease space out slightly.

And price wise, form memory SJ poly ones are approx the same cost as Lotus rubber ones.

I didn't state it because I'm sure somebody posted it recently when discussing replacing shock absorbers.

Long (large) bolt through both holes that the bush's retaining bolt goes through with 2 nuts and washers where the bush normally reside (washers between the nuts and the chassis mounts). turn the nuts so that they move away from each other, they then meet the mountings and will push the mounts slightly apart. Even moving the mounts 1mm out can be enough to make pushing bottom tie rods etc easy.

Hi

I have just replaced my rears with Poly. Got them from SJ, He reconked there better then the current rubber replacements & work out slightly cheeper. I also did my fronts last year, same way as Andy has, again as recomended by Steve at SJ.

Mine is a 85 with uprated suspension, which I believe this set was used in to the stevens cars.

The need for speed can be found with a Lotus
