Evora parts are so cheap!

I've just ordered a washer motor as mine keeps sticking followed by the engine bay aluminium flexi hose that goes from roof to heatshield, plus 6 plastic rivet screw for wheelarch liner and some nuts and bolts for same area I broke whist removing my washer bottle last week (2 x M6 flange bolts, 2 x M6 nyloc nuts and 2 x M6 x 18mm washers). All Lotus items and with VAT came to a whopping total of £28.25!

I've had similar experiences with other parts such as tailgate struts £16 Each and door handle £14 each, pollen filter £11 etc.

Have you had any other experiences with good parts prices, please Share?

I only publish the low receipts Barry, you should have seen the receipt for my V8 when I had my engine removed and lots of work recently. It was more like a telephone number!

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

hi Steve, not yet, it's booked in Tuesday week as I'm off over half term. It's going to be a big improvement anyway as the crimped ends have pulled out on my cables so the cable is corroding/sticking to the point where the gear lever won't centre. Common occurrence apparently on the specific version of the MY11 cables on mine, which were themselves superseded before the MY12 upgrade with additional fixings at the join.

Ill report back when done, but I'm actually quite excited about it. High hopes.

If someone made knock offs for £25 would you feel happy fitting them to your pride and joy? I get the distinct feeling that even the Toyota made bits become 'reassuringly expensive' once they have a Lotus part number...

No, if it were a money issue I'd simply have replaced like for like with the pre MY12 cables, which would have been £200 all in and saved myself £1k. It is however difficult to see where the cost is in these, although I suspect (at least the sleeved ones) are bespoke parts made in low numbers, hence high cost per unit.

Every now and then you look at a part and wonder where the price came from. This applies to everything, not just Lotus, or indeed cars.

Should be 10% on parts, at least. But Colin hasn't coughed up for a FFM yet...

:sofa:  There is a discount on there.

  • Gold FFM

Rubbing it in. I've just renewed!!!

it really isn't about what you may save on one order...... It's the community, the events and the overall lowering the cost of long term ownership
