Gauze under engine cover panel vent slats

Recommended Posts

Just refurbing my engine cover panel.

I was thinking about not fitting the gauze which is located under the vent slats in the rectangular hole in the panel.

I dont really see any benefit in this gauze being there and it must reduce cooling airflow. Unless I have missed something.

Has anyone left this off?

Fitting or removing will make no difference to cooling thats a high vacuum area. and air will be pulled out with forward motion.

The gauze blocks around a third of the area of the vent looking at it.

Although air is drawn through, its bound to reduce the flow. I am curious as to why the factory added it really. Maybe there is some function it has which I am overlooking, perhaps I will get some new gauze and fit it just in case.
