We probably pay several hundred across the UK to go and count them. But they never turn up either, so we'll never know the answer to that question. All will be OK though as in Corbyn's first 5 years as PM he will nationalise all industries and we'll all be working for the state.

In 10 years we will have left the Eurozone for the Kimzone and we'll be part of the North Korean Union, one big unified nationalised federation and we'll all be happy and content and there will be no dissent or disagreement with the leadership.

In Belgium, in a similar case a town actually lost the lawsuit, and had to pay 11 years of pay to a public servant. The judge ruled he had been fired in a non-conform way and that he couldn't be held responsible for not getting any tasks assigned. He claimed he kept himself available for work, and therefore should receive his pay accordingly.

Dare I add I too work for the Belgian government...:sofa:

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

I used to work for one of the large supermarket chains,as I understand it: A colleague who worked for "head-office" was to be made redundant but secured a job in our store, so was therefore not made redundant and started to be paid her salary from our cost centre. By some odd occurrence, instead of transferring her employment to us, it resulted in her remaining on the head-office payroll and being added to the store's payroll and so she was paid both salaries for a matter of years (2-3 I think). It came to light around a time of illness and as a result the decision was that she would repay the over-payment but at a rate that would take it past her 100th birthday or something.  The argument being that her illness had meant she did not notice the double salary.

When she returned after the illness, and after the matter had been settled (the repayment agreed) we had a good laugh about it and how such a mistake could be made.

Where I work, until first of Jan this year when the employment laws changed, it was virtually impossible to get rid of an employee. We has two guys on the books for two years before managing to get rid. We found a loophole whereby you didn't have to pay full salary if you gave 30 days notice, you could then cut the salary by 30% then again after a period of time and by giving 30 days notice again you could cut by 50%. In the end it was worthwhile for the guys to resign as they could get a letter of reference to take to any new employer as without ti they would get no social assistance from the government.

I was sent to America for 3 months as a contractor and was provided with a living allowance whilst I was out there. After a while I noticed I had more in the bank than I expected, I queried this with the company accountant in the UK 3 times and each time I was told not be silly and there was no way I was being paid both by the Americans and the British company. By the end of my time in the states I had saved enough for a deposit on a house and had squirreled it all away. After a few weeks back in the UK I was told by the MD that I had been in fact been paid at both ends and they wanted their money back. I promptly showed the MD the lengthy email trail with the company Accountant where in effect I was being stupid to even consider that he would make such a mistake -I then explained I had therefore spent it all having a good time and it was all gone. Suffice to say I kept it all and got myself on the housing ladder much quicker than I thought I ever would  :harhar:.

Strangely enough my contract was not extended although they did keep paying me for some time after I had left - kept half of that as well  (that was an interesting phone call when the accountant had to phone and ask for the money to be repaid - I think I started the conversation off with - "Let me guess - you've paid me too much again and you think your getting it back this time" ).

Don't know if the accountant kept his job - if he had been a little nicer I may have paid it all back (well maybe). I never understood why he didn't believed me.

Once the money has been paid int your account - they have next to no chance of getting it back - unless you give it willingly.

depends how much you value your job - or client - I had one dump £18k in mine by mistake - I gave it back a month later when I noticed and they asked....... The accountant said keep it and deny the money was in the account. Frankly that was a one off contract and a pain in the Arse from start to finish - I think he was right in hindsight

The v8 is gonna be a dream - hint of mare maybe - but it is a good one.

Wish I had kept it - after the event they had an invoice for £400 which they never paid - and I simply couldn't be doing with the hassle to chase - doh

Keeping it is illegal though.

When I worked in the casino game a pal got a new job and they paid his whole annual salary in the first month. He called up and the manager joked that he'd run off if it had happened to him. My mate ran off*!

*He moved back to Aus and started a taxi company with the cash!
