Interior retrim- your thoughts...

Recommended Posts

Starting to get itchy feet but can't justify a new car...!

So, thoughts turn to doing something with current one.

Having seen Neal H's superb retrim I thought I'd look at mine.

The standard quilting is beginning to grate on me, so my thoughts are -

Retrim door cards black leather/ red stitch

Door insert black alcantara

Door pulls black leather (the red look like clowns lips..)

Centre console black leather / red stitch

Seats - just change the centre quilting for black alcantara / red stitch.

I'm just not sure how the black centre would look with the rest of the seat in the Venom red it is now.

Thoughts greatly appreciated....

Hmmm.... not sure about that steering wheel!

Im struggling to visualise what the seats would look like with just the centre in black.

At £250 each it needs to be right.

I've priced up the centre console and door cards from De Roure, and it seems to be cheaper than having the originals re trimmed.

Find that a bit odd!

I agree about the dodgy steering wheel and gear knob!

A quick go at colouring in the seat with my MS Paint crayons. I'm not convinced that a black centre section on a predominently red seat is going to work. A red alcantara centre section maybe? It would change the look.

Looking at different seats on Google the predominant colour seems to be black, so I think you may be right.

Possibly just get the quilting changed to non quilted red leather.

If I went for everything else (door cards, centre console etc) in black leather /red stitch, would just the seats in red look odd?

I think I'd still go for red alcantara on the centre section rather than red leather as it would provide more of a contrast, plus alcantara is more grippy to sit on than leather. I also quite like the red door insert in the picture above, so it could be done in the same red alcantara as on the seats. I'd also leave the gear gator in red leather for now (easily changed to black later if you hate it). Otherwise I think it may look a bit odd if everything else is black with only the seats in red.
