@The Pits I really enjoyed the review Jonny. Your Exige being used as a colour coordinated 'chase car' was real added value. The footage of the two cars together coupled with the combined soundtrack makes it petrolhead wet dream material.

This is the first considered comparison with the 400 from a proper enthusast. You have definitely swayed me towards buying one. I have 8000 miles on the clock in the 400 after 9 months of ownership. I love the driving experience and use the car every day if I can, but now feel something a little more hard core would be even better....

If there was one single thing that has finally convinced me to commit to buy it is probably the carbon bucket seats. Your review certainly gives them a big thumbs up. Richard's post about their comfort level for long periods during his Spanish road trip helped as well.

Just a small thing but does Richard's car have the titanium version of the exhaust? If so, apart from the obvious weight saving, was there any discernable difference with soundtrack etc.

The timing of your review is perfect for me. I now need to commit to a colour choice and then find a good p/x deal with one of the dealers. I will go for a fully specced car with carbon coloured alloys and intend to use it as a 'daily driver' whenever possible. Just not sure about the extra cost versus benefits of the ti exhaust. Perhaps overall investment/resale value?

I'm not sure the Sport 410 actually sounds any different to the Evora 400. Richard's car had the standard exhaust.

However, I have to admit that the Sport 380 sounded even more exciting to my ears and that did have the titanium exhaust. Like for like, Exiges tend to sound a bit more angry and aggressive, the Evoras tend to sound a bit more refined and dare I say 'classy'. When compared back to back they make surprisingly different notes given the silencer is the same. So either this is just an 'Exige effect' or the titanium exhaust really does sound different, and even better, in real life. Hard to know for sure but I'd be more tempted to spec the titanium pipe with an Evora 410 but wouldn't bother with a Sport 380 as I'd be looking to spend the money on something quieter for trackdays instead.

The seats are fantastic but they are bolt upright. More so than my Exige for some reason. I don't know if there's some means of adjustment or if they have to be like that to get anything in the +0 area? Need further investigation on this but they might be slightly better for longer journeys with a bit more recline in them. Until then I'll go with Richard's first hand experience. I love them but I'm a total sucker for motorsport stuff like that. I can see how some might think of them as Exige seats and they do make getting luggage behind them more difficult, there are some downsides. I'd go without the stereo but I think it would be a good idea for daily use, if only for the reversing camera. There is more rear visibility in an Exige! Not an Evora strong point.

Hope some of this helps and that the cost to change won't be too hideous!

That is something I'd like to see.... a photo of the mirror from drivers eye view of the rear visibility. Comparing 400 to 410.

It's exactly as you would imagine. Bugger all visibility plus slats.

If you've never been in a car with louvres they don't actually make any difference. The only info you can get through an Evora's letter box is whether or not there's a car behind. Louvres don't change that.

I like them personally, that might be an Esprit thing. Ex-Capri owner too but I don't usually mention that on here! ;)

You can see the view through a few times on the Lotus E410 video.

The more that I see, the more that I like. I absolutely love my 400 and this just seems to take all my favorite bits and then add an extra layer of goodness on top. I'm finding it hard to think of my money going anywhere other than lotus when the time comes, and if I keep watching videos like @The Pits's that time is likely to come a bit sooner than planned.

Does anyone know if lotus will be at Geneva? That would be my next chance to see one in the flesh.

I am pricing the 410 spec I am after, but cannot find the carbon fibre mirror caps like those on the press demo car that ended up with Central Lotus. Are these part of the carbon pack or are they an extra cost option? Thanks guys.

I'd assume they are part of carbon pack.

they are £127eaxh plus vat to buy separately... not that I've ordered a set for my 400

I think they're standard. Richard has them on his car.

Are they... cough..  definitely real carbon? Please say 'yes'!

Good point; lets hope that cost cutting at Hethel has not stretched as far as fake carbon mirror tips if they have put all that effort into the rest of it.

A comparatively small but significant quality thing like that can easily be a deal breaker.

I'd like to add that they did look like real carbon but there was the hideous mention of 'carbon effect' on the Sport 380's side scoops so my fake carbon radar is on high alert, I probably haven't quite got over that yet!

Unfortunately they're not Carbon. They're actually dip printed. I tried to find carbon S1 Evora ones, thinking surely Jaguar owners would have some made but there weren't any for sale. Maybe some Proton owners have rustled some up that could be sourced?

What aren't carbon fibre? The 410 mirrors? You sure? The parts guide says carbon fibre.

Yep. Apparently Carbon versions would actually be a partial weight up. Same as the reason the Carbon cosmetic roof panel and A pillar covers aren't used even though they are used on Federal and GCC Evora's  (albeit painted black).

Both interesting and disappointing. It explains why the mirrors are not referred to as part of the "carbon fibre aero package" in the specification list. Using weight saving as the reason seems a bit lame when its clearly down to cost saving.
