Evora Sport 410

So in the absence of anyone with any experience of a 410 without sound deadening, the 5.5kg weight saving is probably not worth the risk (of ending up with an Evora that's unnecessarily noisy on the motorway). Getting too obsessed about the weight of options is counter productive because it leads inevitably towards the 200kg lighter Exige.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Crikey, that is nice! Silverstone is local to me. I hope someone buys it quickly before I give in to the temptation to pop along and 'have a look'.

Same here

Nice, ive  always had a soft spot for Lotus cars with the JPS colours ever since the original Europa JPS.

It is probably the only black car I would have :driving:

regular Sparco seats instead of the lightweight Probax seat, I guess fitting the airbags in the door is still a challenge so the US 410 will remain a bit heavier than its europeen version. I can't wait for a 400 to show up at my dealer, still don't know when that will happen, sort of lucky I am in  no position to take the plunge  right now (thank you dear Ph.D) i

" the Evora Sport 410 is powered by supercharged, 3.5-litre 6-cylinder engine, producing 400 hp at 7000 rpm and 301 lbft (410 Nm) of torque at 3500 rpm."

Usual attention to detail in the press release I see

The Lotus Evora Sport 410 is limited to a global production run of 150 vehicles per year, and the Evora Sport 410 for the North American market is available to order now at a MSRP excluding taxes of $104,200. The MSRP of the Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Edition is $110,000.

At 104K for a car able to reach 190mph it's a steal no two way around it.

Clearly having bought a Lotus he isn't "most Americans"

To quote @MJK's favourite advert they are "for the few who know the difference"

Most brits don't know about the Evora and think of Lotus as just doing the little elise. The number of P-car owners who have never heard of it is staggering and suggests to me that they are not really car enthusiasts, but hey I don't recognise the different flavours of 911 like some car enthusiasts can.

Very few realise the Evora exists, many who do just dismiss it as an overgrown Elise. This will be a feature of a next video of mine.

Sometimes you can't win - they don't like the Evora because they think it's the same as an Elise, then you show them it isn't, then they moan it weighs much more than an Elise, so they moan...

I am guilty of some of the above but am happy to be enlightened now

enlightened is a great description, plus I like the fact it includes the word lightened - perhaps this should be in the marketing for the 410. "Lightened for the enlightened"?

I should make clear that my marketing skills are those of a child stuck in the 1970s - just in case anyone was wondering.

@NedaSay that's not how most Americans view it (I know you're from the good side of the border)

Most "muricans" do want another 25k Elise cause they can abuse them like mad and are never ever going to lose money on the car considering they bought it for 25k and will sell it for 32k...  Really they want an exige V6 but whenever it gets to them they'll moan that it is too expensive. ... "They'll say that's Porsche money... that's just too much"

That's why Lotus "retain" their exclusivity and that's why 400 cars presold to dealers was actually not a dumb idea ; there are 40 dealers this side of the pound, they got on average 10 cars each (not true at all, Galpin and a few others got a whole lot more than that while some only ordered 4 or 5) they activated words of mouth and got a few people to come test the car they did that in the middle of winter!!! Lotus conversion rate is 30%  so get 10 people to drive and 3 will buy. At the end of the day these are good odds for dealers. If Lotus had more money they could invest into PR and marketing but that ain't the case right now so Lotus doesn't have mass market appeal.   Please also realize that out of the 250/400 cars that were sent to North America in the dead of winter... well not that many are on Ebay (4 cars) not much more than that on autotrader. That means that dealers have received their allocation and are moving the cars according to their plans, they are not desperate to sell, there may have been some cancelled early orders but as these were well specced cars they are not really hard to sell so much so that cars are selling in the showroom floor at around 100k while the initial MSRP suggested by Lotus was 89k for a nicely specced car 95k to get the top spec. I just checked Galpin Lotus in L.A, they are down to 4 cars... Same in Austin, Houston, New York. The dealers are down to just a few cars with "new inventory coming soon". These cars are Americans who know better not the muricans. Until lotus get the Elise back in the US at 35/39k - and that's a tall order -  Lotus will remain quite confidential but that is ok.

At 104K suggested MSRP the Sport 410 is a steal, no other exotic can match its speed, exclusivity or pedigree for the price, only American bred corvettes and other souped pony cars will be cheaper while able to offer the same amount of performance - only in a straight line. Yes the Porsche 911S is in the exact same bracket but they sell them by the thousands

Well it's been less than 72h and the trigger happy Lotustalk forumers are already at 2 purchased cars, they only represent a minority of American Lotus owners... I haven't heard of the Japan allocation for the car but the 150 car per year will be sold out before soon.  People really love the ducktail and so do I.  The US version doesn't even really get the engine uprated yet people don't seem to care that much for the extra hp or lack thereof.

Sorry, but to my eyes, yuck! Why would you choose that colour on such a beautiful car when you could have motorsport green, lazer blue, ruby red, motorsport black, etc.....   It's like covering a naked Kylie Minogue in a king size duvet cover from head to toe and saying ooo, isn't that beautiful. No! It's not!
