Yes I believe all speakers and wiring are in the cars with no stereo, such is Lotus dedication to saving every gram... A.C. is a necessity IMHO

I want to try another 400 auto, I think the box was much better when pushed than the old IPS

Maybe if you are in London, we can arrange that.

I bought my 400 with auto few weeks ago and am very satisfied with it. I was in traffic this morning and thought how painful it would be without. It is working quite nicely when in sport mode for performance, this does shift faster than manual would. The paddle works well enough if you want to control the gears. I would not have it otherwise but I also prefer the 400 to 410 as I was looking for a GT not a track car.

Tired to do a deal on that car back in Feb when it was £80k, but cost to change was to much vs my 400 at the time.  I personally love the Auto box, so wouldn't have had a problem with it.

Im sure I'll have a 410 at some point in the future , albeit second hand.

One thing I will say for the auto box, even in the Exige I drove, when you're just pootling about or in traffic, it is brilliant. Miles better than any automated manual I have ever driven.

I think it makes life difficult for a lot of people when the current manual setup Lotus are using is possibly the best they've ever had, and truly a brilliant gearchange

Lots of Auto fans on here, so not sure why Centrals 410 is still for sale, at you have to say at a competitive price, easy job to put a head unit in, something better than the much criticised lotus unit, some good cheap apple car play units are out there, it's in a nice colour, just my opinion but I do think darker colours suit the Evora more, I have seen this car a few times now and have to the Carbon body panels are a work of Art, it's a great buy for someone I am sure.

Unless you happen to have the cash burning a hole in your pocket it's easier to get into a new one than a late used one and you get to choose your spec.

410 auto would be awesome on track, the change is super quick and no need for your hands to ever leave the wheel.

I'd actually love to know what Lotus think the auto box does to Hethel times... quicker shifting but no LSD and fewer revs must be a problem for certain places.

An Auto might be quicker... not convinced, but a manual (personally) is more satisfying.

Getting heal and toe right, braking points, turning in, would be so much more satisfying than flipping a paddle.

IMHO of course, ymmv

Scott you are entirely at liberty to spend your hard earned money however you like but the 250 Cup is only the 'ultimate' Elise in terms of track ability (ok, styling too). Fortunately for those who don't want to take them on the track they work really well on the road but many track focused cars do not. So in some cases buying the 'top of the range' is not the best choice for everyone. For example, for road use the Exige V6 Roadster would be my first choice and don't consider my own V6 Cup as better on the road. But anyone buying a Lotus Cup car is missing out if they never go near a track and so is the car. You simply can't 'abuse' a 250 Cup on track. I tried and failed! The car didn't even break a sweat. In this regard it is one of the ultimate road legal Lotus cars ever. Simply unbreakable and unflappable. The tyres were unmarked afterwards, they didn't even know they were on a track day!

Each to their own of course but I'd be willing to bet that you'd love your 250 Cup even more after a trackday. Much safer than driving fast on the road too IMHO.

I'm afraid I will have to upset the status quo and agree with @The Pits again on this one. With Lotus, we are quite lucky that their "track" cars are actually still quite well behaved on the road. Even the Cup 360 I drove that was fitted with Ohlins was better than some other cars I have driven, which were NOT track focused. This is definitely not the case from a lot of car makers.

I have driven, on track, what you might call an "entry level" race car (Ginetta G40).... they are road legal but they would make an Elise seem like a comfy old sofa in comparison! By the sounds of it even the new Ford GT is very compromised as a road car, because it is so focused on track performance. And that cost about 10x what your Elise does!

I actually had zero intentions of tracking the Evora, because I couldn't afford to repair it if something happened, even with track insurance. But I got talked into doing so by some of the guys on here and am so glad I did - the car was so friendly and predictable, I had an absolute blast even if I wasn't setting any lap records. That's why I get wound up about the current exhausts. I want to get on track again but I can't because of that. Also because the exhaust used on the Exige 350 etc... actually sound great as they are, just right in terms of volume and character IMHO.

If you have the chance do get your car on track, the great thing is I doubt many people who will really buy a Cup 250 will care about it having been tracked - that is the point of the car!

Plus one with @JayEmm ref not having a slightly quieter exhaust on the 410/380.  It is v annoying as it severely limits which tracks I can do and realistically there is no chance of changing the exhaust myself as it would invalidate the warranty.  Complete own goal by Lotus and feels like I've been mis-sold a product as the marketing makes a strong play on its track credentials.  That said I was aware before I bought the 410 (because I did my own research) and went ahead anyway.  Still a damn shame though.

Exhaust doesn't invalidate warranty.

There are now options.

As above. Speak to Bell and Colvill, they must have an agreement with Lotus re Exhaust.

I can not speak for the other brands, but there are alternatives. H111 and 2Bular being two.

How's the latter going Lee?

Really well.

I had additional "cans" arrive today.

So I can have track box with carbon tips, or Track box with silencing tips.

Hoping to get some noise tests done with and without extra silencing cans to compare to the oem exhaust.

Will be at Newlands Corner meet on Sunday.

FWIW, I often share a pit box with a wheelchair bound Exige V6 Automatic driver, he gives me a very hard time in the Cayman GT4. The Exige has run faultlessly, he often does long sessions on track and he reports faultless operation of the automatic gearbox.

I spent 1,200 kms in the Alps last week-end, going through about 20 passes, with a "spirited" driving, and I'm very happy with my IPS Exige... As The Pits often says,  an automatic roadster on those roads, with a sunny weather,  is the perfect combination (to me), and it didn't miss a beat !

a friend with a 991 GT3 (what a machine !), better driver than me,  told me that he was able to keep the distance and even push me a bit, but couldn't overtake as we were in the same pace... with Cup2s (on both cars), it was a real pleasure :) ! keeping both hands on the steering wheel is really a bonus, when hairpins keep coming ... and I won't have to change the clutch or bother with transmission noises  ... i'll have a gearbox oil change at 30,000kms though, but just because I want to keep the car on its best shape !

I've owned it since almost two years now, and 28,000 kms (a lot more than most), and the only two cars that can make me change would be... an automatic 410, or a McLaren 540C (but out of reach for now) ! although I'm a classic cars owner and manual fanatic for those cars, I do think DCT or auto suit modern sport cars better...

Would that include a change of manifolds or just silencer. Would be nice to get rid of those inefficient cast items, although I guess there must be some reason why Lotus stick with them.
