@RJB Thanks, it's great to share the experience of 410 ownership to some extent through reading your posts. Pictures are always appreciated too

I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on whether the charges to the 410 over the 400 have compromised it at all as a pure road car. My 400 is my daily and I suppose that some would consider this compromised when compared to a hatch or SUV, but I am more than happy living without multiple cupholders or the ability to put my dogs in the boot (I suppose I could still technically do this but it's not advisable) for what I get in return. If the 410 offered additional dynamic improvement and a greater feeling of 'specialness' I'd be happy to live with more NVH or a harsher ride. 

I have little or no interest in taking my car on track, so if that's the only place that the improvements are felt then the 410 is probably not for me.

I don't think the changes to the 410 (vs 400) have compromised the 410 being a road car at all - in fact, I think they have enhanced them.  Road holding is improved over the 400, but it never feels harsh at all, in fact it feels very well sprung.  This is no Exige, which can feel harsh at times.  I have bought mine as a road car, I doubt I'll ever take on track.  My impression is that it isn't intended to be a track car - if you want track car, you buy an Exige.  The 410 is just a more bespoke/special 400.

@pickle within the Garage I used to park my car 2 years ago there often was a 997 GT3 ownwe that put his (large) dog in the seatless back of his car, with a big pillow......seems to work :-)

Certainly will when I've put some decent miles on them (grip and wear wise!).  So far, they seem super grippy, even in the wet (which surprised me).  Not sure I will venture out in the snow in them this week...

@JT73 No, snow will get you answers you won´t ask....by the way: I have read that on a Porsche 997 without heavy track use, a cup2 should last 4000 - 6000 km........

@JT73 seems like a 410 will be firmly on my shortlist when the time comes. . Maybe they'll have brought out a targa version by then....

@Snoopy1969 I used to take my old lurcher out in my v220. He used to sit in the passenger seat strapped in with a harness. I would get plenty of attention like that. Maybe I should explore options with my current hounds - turn them into petrolheads

If you remember, when I had a 400 I did exactly that. Just little ol' me had an online exposure in excess of 50,000 people that day alone, and you can imagine how many saw/heard it too! Cost half a tank of fuel and the congestion charge.

I'm also keen to know about the Cup2.

I need to replace a rear tyre on my 400 (punctured) and it's £200 for a rear or £980 for a set of Cup2s. So toying with replacing all Pilot Super Sports with Cup2s.

I could then keep the MPSS as spares until a Cup2 could be fitted.

For a road car, not sure I'd want the Cup 2s... That being said I think those are probably the major difference with the 410. That and the seats.

hmmm I take it back, there is a pilot sport 4 and a pilot sport 4s.

the MPS4S does say it's the Pilot Super Sport plus Cup2 innovations...

I always assumed that an S in an acronym stood for 'sport', e.g. RS. Does that mean the mps4s is a pilot sport 4 sport? Two sports must make for a very good tyre

Personally I would replace the one MPSS with another Super Sport. When the time comes, replace all round with PS 4 S.

My car is coming up for 11,000 miles, including one track day. My fronts feel like they are brand new and I reckon I've got at least another 11,000 from my rears. I am very impressed.

I would like to know how a 400 compares to a 410 with the same tires, I believe they would be very tight - in other words: most of us would not be able to drive significantly faster with a 410.

That doesn´t matter at the end of the day (for me), I really like the 410 but I am not sure if the premium that has to be paid for is in any way justified (esp if you consider that a slightly used, MCL MP4 12 in Continental Europe costs only some Grand more than a new 410 with airco and SatNav for example) A 410 costs ca 30.000 € more than a new Evora S in 2012 (in Germany) ......hmmmm.......not mentioning that with the introduction of the S SR the Price even dropped...........

@JayEmm given the issues you've had did you worry about doing a track day invalidating your new car warranty? I know Lotus don't seem to hide behind this, but my owners handbook says it is a road going passenger vehicle and track use will invalidate the new car warranty.

To be honest I was surprised to see it written so explicitly (in capitals!) when they sell the cars as vehicles that can be used on track. I expect several of you will tell me this is just for extreme circumstances, but that's not what the owners manual says. I wonder if the same text is in the 311 owners manual.

Out of interest do any of you know of warranties being invalidated by track use, either with a Lotus or another brand?

@Danelaw I was very curious about track use, I read the manual and the way it was worded to mean basically said "Take it on the track, no warranty for you"

However, when I had my first service it comes with a letter from Lotus saying "you CAN take it on track, but no timed laps or racing". They've not given me any issues with it having been on track.

I'd be more worried about buying an ex-demo car because they won't have been properly run in (or you can't guarantee it) - Lotus can pull the engine records and if they were having a bad day they might hold that against you

Managed to get a quick blast in the car this morning - coast road from Gibraltar to Estepona in search of the elusive Lotus (Toyota) dealer to arrange first service. 

More of the same thoughts really - it handles so precisely - when I drove the 400 I thought it felt a little soft / subdued almost but the 410 feels so solid - you see a warning sign for a sharp bend, drop a gear, accelerate and then wonder why they bothered with the sign, it feels so tractable, there must be a limit but it seems a long way off! Will asssume a lot of that is the cup 2s - hope the wear is better than the Pirellis on my NA which average 5K miles on the rears - strangely got double that on the S.....

I will use it on the track for sure but for the most part I bought it for trips to Europe and mountain roads at which it excels.

Have been recommended a superb mountain road from Marbella to Ronda which I will try and get to at the weekend and yes, photos too...
