bored this evening so got on with this..

will finish it this week and do a selection in different colours and then do photorealistic renders.

heres two pics for now.

Hi Simon

I know nothing about how you do these kind of drawings, whats the start point? Do you scan a picture in or do you draw a wire frame exactly to scale? How do you get the right angles?

can you enlighten someone who can write his technical drawing knowledge on the back of a stamp.

Alex

There are hundreds of tutorials online. Here's a couple I bookmarked:

There's a good overview of the process here (nice model of a Gallardo too)

Here's a less glamorous but more detailed tutorial for the (free) Blender3D.

And of course, bigsi's going to post one here soon (hint!)

Be warned: it's not easy - kudos to bigsi.

If you give it a go, don't make my mistake in picking one of the hardest cars for my first model, an Ultima GTR, which is all complex curves. It was taking me so long my hard-drive decided to put it out of its misery! The g-car would have been a much better choice (but still not easy to do well).

Don't let me put you off though. If you're patient, it's good fun and until you try, you can't tell if you're one of the lucky people who have the knack. Try Blender3D first before shelling out big bucks.

I look forward to seeing the finished model.

Phil
