Wiper blade

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I only signed up today.

So what alternative wiper blade will fit and where can I get it if there is one. Alternatively what sort of price should I expect to pay for a genuine blade.

Thanks in anticipation

Peter

Peter

Welcome to the Forum!!!

My wiper flew off at high speed the other day, leaving a nice gouge across the windscreen as it did so.

I went to an out-of-town Halfords to get an emergency replacement (

...but as they didn't have the pin that mounts the blade to the arm, I had to file my own out of a bolt I found in the car park...

That's why I always carry my 'MacGyver' with me...

Thanks Ben

I was thinking that pin might cause a problem. The last time I bought a lotus wiper blade was 20 years ago from Motorway Sportscars! I've had the same one on ever since but in the last MOT they commented it was smearing. I've hardly used it though.

Is it easy to repace the rubber then (as someone has suggested)?

Thanks

Peter

Peter

The parts manual seems to imply the the genuine Lotus blade (A079M6015F - as Gooner says) comes with a pin. If not, I could always file you a new one...

Sorry - I've no idea about changing the rubber bit. I can't imagine it being too difficult, though.

I can do it - so it's easy  You will need a pair of pliers to remove the old one and just push the new one on the skeleton (if this is the right expression)

But if your's is 20 years old it might be a good idea to get a new one.

I replace the rubber on mine about once or twice a year

One word - RAINEX.

I reckon they just stuck a wiper on the Esprit for fun, not for practicality! :D

Pete

Sure, Rainex is fine...but won't help you to pass MOT or at low speeds :D

The pin is available as part of a fitting kit from Champion. It's for a Renault 25 apparently - or at least a particular year anyway. You get two of course 'cos normal cars need two wipers!

That's how I got a Champion wiper to fit my '88 S-car.
