Tall James

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm looking for a 340r if you have or no of any for sale please get in touch, disappointed as just missed the 4K mileage one at Cameron sports cars for 29k and next best seems like either one in Netherlands which is over 20k miles and more money or one in USA which is same miles but over £45k. Hope someone can help, and hope I'm posting where this will get actually viewed,

kind regards

I thought I saw one at paul Mattys the other day.

you need to ring round the specialists and be patient on this one - they are about - but they ain't like shopping for a mass produced car.

good luck

Give Silverlink Specialist Cars a ring in Morpeth (ex lotus newcastle), they have just got one in on Saturday. It's Adfer's old car on here. Pretty immaculate ,i was scoping it yesterday...

Excellent thank you for the reply, I presume it's being prepped as not in there website yet, didn't realise they were not main dealer anymore as been doing searches on the approved used main dealer site, can you believe snows Southampton recently sold one for 25k with main dealer 1 year warranty, only 10k miles! Ti exhaust Mag wheels everything, that's what hesitated me pulling trigger on Cameron's car, and the AD car I was away on the other side of the world at the time, glad my post getting seen and really quick response thank you to all, let me know any come up as really think both in Netherlands over priced especially all that involved bringing her back

Thanks for the reply, can't see any at Paul Marty's I will call them, the people that have them I guess are keepIng them now, remember seeing one when took my first Elise into bell and colvill brand new and thinking wow but I was only about 21-23 and wanted to use in the winter but now looking some 15 years later after all sorts of marques, I guess nothing excites like a Lotus

I prob can't afford to be picky but really wanted ti exhaust that's why I passed on that one and the fact it was double millage of the Cameron car for same money, been phoning around trying scope a ti exhaust... Impossible

Yes gone, shouldn't be so picky, how do I find who adfers is for some info in the car? Millage upgrades etc? Also I know I'm making a hard job impossible but anyone ever see the original ones with carbon mud flaps?

Check out the threads on SELOC regarding the NL one - I'd keep away from that one if I were you.

I also would not get too hung up on the ti exhaust - I have one hung up in my loft, I run the twin exit Janspeed.  2bular also do one, but I never really liked the look of the round exhaust, though they may do other shapes.

The general consensus is to buy a car with miles, as they have been used more regularly and have more serviced items.

It is worth joining the 340 Facebook and Yahoo groups and posting a 'wanted' ad - good luck in your search!

Omg I should have come to the foreum before would you have sold your ti exhaust? In that case I would have pulled the trigger on the AD car! I'm really not good with this whole foreum business and social media can you point me in the direction of the issues re the Netherlands one as I was getting very tempted to go have a look next weekend, how long have you had your 340r? Does it get used much? Why don't you use the ti exhaust?

James - ring round - post on forums - the best lotus seem to go long before they are advertised.

you will unearth one doing that for sure - and paul matty is slow at getting his stock online - the good ones often sell long before they get the photographers round and the web stuff done.

When I was looking for my first esprit - there was next to nothing for sale - but ringing round unearthed half a dozen or so in a few days. Us lotus sellers can be shy..

best of luck in searching - once the lotus bugs bitten - your hooked

I doubt I would sell it tbh.

I will find link later and cross post it - it was basically for sale near me MANY years ago and had obviously been in some sort of accident - I posted a few photos - Target bought it and have been unable to shift it ever since.

I have had my car 12 years - it has 19k on it, so high miles ;-) - it is nothing really - only gets dry weather use though, so is in really great condition.

They are amazing to drive!  Where in the uk are you?

Yea I know I've had load of special marques throughout the years but always seem to come back to lotus, think it brings out the kid in me especially as was so young when had my first one, I'll ring round, the target one I know of but was thinking more of the one at classic park as its original do you know of that one? Any info? I'm as far south as you can get close to Southampton, do you track yours? Have you done the miles

Just phoned them,  but no ti exhaust and no 190hp upgrade, is it still possible to get that done? Anyone know if the car is it a good one? Wonder how much they paid for it, probably not a lot and annoying thing is the previous owner less than 10 miles from me lol Sod's law

As I said, it looks immaculate, for a 16 year old car I couldn't find much to pick about. Your not going to find a brand new one...

From what I gather the guy who had it in Southampton hardly used it after buying it from Lotus Newcastle last year, who in turn traded it with adfer for a GTE.

I'm petty sure it has a full and comprehensive service manual from his ownership by Murrays in Edinburgh.

I personally wouldn't get hung up about the 190 kit. The fact it hasn't got it says' to me it's in a pretty original state and hasn't beeen messed with.

If I had the spare cash I would have bought it!!

Thank you so much for bringing this to me, I am very grateful, and in talks with them, your probably right about the originality having not been messed with, you seem to know a lot about this particular car, anyway of talking to the previous owner ? I thought you had one already? Are you saying you would buy another lol

No I don't have one, I have a 2-11 but I would buy that one knowing who has owned it previously, adfer keeps his stuff tidy.

When I saw it yesterday it had come straight off the trailer fom them picking it up and went straight in :the showroom it is that clean.

Send adfer a pm on here he's on the forum often.

Yes I believe adfer had it for many years, wether he was the very first owner or not I don't know. The guy in Southampton had it for less than a year and hardly used it afaik, he swapped it in part for a ducati bike which I belive he is trying to get back...

Your welcome, if you buy it you can stop in on the way back down and you can take me for a spin in it, im 15 miles south of Morpeth on your way past!
