It's Adfer's old car on here. Pretty immaculate ,i was scoping it yesterday... simply don't believe it, had arranged to go look at the car at silverlink Sunday and just had an email saying someone put deposit down! Omg that's just my luck, didn't realise they refund deposits if your not happy when you get there I would have immediately put one down last Sunday! So gutted - again, I bet it was someone on here who see these posts as well, so I unintentionally probably cut myself out the deal... Devastated

Tall James 0
Maybe new owner should check out previous owners comments about 340r P666 WER, engine needs work Hi James Sorry for the late reply. The Silverlink one was my old car. I had been looking for a low mileage 340R for a while having owned one before. I bought the car unseen due to its low mileage and the recomendation of the service manager at Murrays who looked after it. It needs a fair bit of paint. 340Rs are chippy at the best of times but this one needs sills and front spoiler done Roll over bar could do with being repainted too Interior very nice, near mint Carbon fibre mudguards have faded but back to black makes them look respectable if not mint Mechanically it had a problem with oil leaking onto the exhaust from the engine. Almost caught fire on the way home, and had to be trailered most of the way home. I sold it with this problem unresolved but Silverlink were informed. It needs engine out and seals replaced. The problem only manifests iteself when its warm and you really give it some beans! I think its been left in a damp garage for a while judging by the corrosion on some of the fittings and bolts. I like my cars mint so I was disappointed with this one, but it could be brought back to mint with some effort. Any more questions, let me know. Just spoke to him and absolutely no service history, says did servicing himself and only 100 miles a year for 10 years... Oh deer that would be a gamble At least he was honest and told me he has driven it in the rain omg, says took a lot of cleaning after that, if be worried about the seats now and we all know what happeneds with regard to corrosion on these cars, damn it
Advantage 910
The seats aren't fussed by a bit of rain. I drove mine down to Spa for a weekend at the track. Didn't see a dry day! Don't forget that the floors on these have drain holes in each corner too.
fnomis 6
I wouldn't be concerned about the rain too much, they take a lot to clean, but not a lot to go rusty. But at £32k, I'd personally be wanting some service history. Mine over the last few years has only done a few hundred miles a year, yet I get it serviced (though granted sometimes they may have been a slightly longer gap than 12 months due to it being SORN). I would be factoring in a cambelt change (whether or not they said they had done it) - cost approx. £1k with service.
Tall James 0
What do you mean don't be concerned about the rain? If it doesn't take much to go rusty?
fnomis 6
Sorry, what I meant was there is not a lot on the car to go rusty.
Tall James 0
What would you say it was worth without service history and a cam belt service needed? Barring in mind silverlink has 16 stamps and 1 year warranty for 30k? Appreciate yours and everyone else input on this ?????
fnomis 6
It is very difficult to put a value on them - it is not what you/I think it is worth, but what the seller thinks. As there are fewer and fewer for sale, the prices will be on the up - they are so special I am really surprised they have not been on the up before now. A years warranty on a 340 could be worth quite a lot if you bought it from a dealer, if say there was a problem with the cambelt. It has the roll bar painted (this is a clam off job - a lot suffered corrosion as they were not lacquered properly), has the 190 kit and carbon guards (worth say 1k) and the track pack (mine has this, I have never used it) - it looks like it has A038's on it, so you may need a new set of tyres (probably) so say £600. All-in-all, I would want to get it at £27k, to compare to Silverlink one at £30k, but if he has it up at £32k, I doubt he would take below £30k. It also looks like it is missing the rear window :-) Check it has the race battery, not the full size battery. Edited March 31, 2016 by fnomis
Tall James 0
That's is exactly what Inwas thinking @27k fair to us both.....
rizla603104 76
No I don't know about it I'm afraid. I'm an Esprit owner. But would have one if money and storage weren't a problem. Don't be put off by someone doing their own servicing. A lot of people who do their own servicing do a better job than some dealers do. Personally mine all gets done by my local specialist - but that's because I am just utterly useless at car maintenance and don't have the space. If the guy has had the car for >10 years then its probably in reasonable shape. Are you planning on doing the servicing yourself or taking it to a specialist or dealer? Of course - I do appreciate that there are some basket cases out there. A years warranty sounds good - unless there are a load of exclusions!
