starter motor S1

Hi,I am thinking of replacing my starter motor on my S1 .Hasa anyone any idea what vehicle it comes from,or a lucas part no,thanks Paul.

Not sure what the donor car is but you can get a new one from SJ:

I think its an uprated motor if i recal.

I did talk to Steve about it a while back and have been thinking about fitting one myself.

Whats up with yours?... is it just slugish or has it failed?

If you aren't concerned w/ originality, go w/ one of the Japanese conversion style starter motors. I put one in my turbo w/ 9.25:1 compression and it cranks w/ much less battery drain. If you are in the states, RD enterprises. etc. carry them.
