Jayone24 4
Hi I be just tested an Evora 400, superb car! I saw that the external mirrors auto retract when we long press on the key fob open/close button. as we have still the same key fob and about the same electronics so I was wondering if we can retrofit this automatic retracting ?? Gold FFM C8RKH 6,722 Posted April 19, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted April 19, 2016 Don't think so. The previous Evora uses old Ford/Jaguar mirrors whereas the 400 I believe uses one from another brand, Proton I think but not sure. So different internals in the mirror motors. Might be wrong, if i am and we can, then Goldberg! Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies! Jayone24 4
Yes but maybe the automatic closing of the mirror is driven by a relay that was added somewhere ?
Parramint 63
Evora 400 does use Proton mirrors......
Jayone24 4
Yep but the button command to fold/unfold the mirror is still the same as the s1 Edited April 19, 2016 by Jayone24
Gold FFM C8RKH 6,722 Posted April 19, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted April 19, 2016 Yes, the button is the same, but the mechanicals are in the mirror. Not sure I heard of the Ford / Jaguar ones doing the auto fold thing, and guess that means the electrics and motors and whirlygig things in the mirror are no there to do it.In fact on quickly searching the Jag forums the answer is no. You can do a DIY job that involves 10m of cable and other stuff or a bespoke kit as below: After loads of exhaustive searching on forums everywhere and even a visit to my Jaguar dealer to play with his programming software, I eventually just about gave up on the idea of having auto fold wing mirrors operated with my key-fob. Out of the blue I had a reply to an email from a really nice guy who has spent the best part of three weeks researching and producing a bespoke kit to wire in behind the door panel to give me the power fold on the second push of the lock button on the key-fob and open when the open button is pushed on the fob. Cant wait to fit it and no more swearing half way down the road or going back to the car in the supermarket car park. The guys an absolute genius and has produced me a kit all in a nice small enclosed box with just 5 wire connections all behind the door card. Will let you know how it goes when I have fitted it. Got everything crossed its all going to work OK. Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies! Danelaw 156
If you want to retract the mirrors do it before you leave the car - simples. I find it amazing that peopled get 'wowed' by 'features' like this. One day we'll look back and say did we really shut the car door by pushing it and not pressing a button. I realise others will have a different opinion and justification, but this feature would be at the bottom of my wish list.
Bibs 11,658
It's quite handy on the 400 as it shows you've locked the car correctly since the alarm doesn't beep and the door locks are very quiet. internets 480
You have 2 problems, for starters the Series 1 Evora mirrors are not 'one click/touch' fold, i.e you have to hold the switch until they have completely folded, and secondly the alarm is a different unit/manufacturer between the S1 and 400 so unsure if the S1 alarm has a spare auxiliary output. If it has not doubt with relays or a small circuit something could be rigged up but always difficult to get required information. I like the idea though, as Bibs mentioned it's great for knowing the car is locked! Only trouble there is, if you're parked at the kerbside you're looking in the mirror for a safe opportunity to open the door but by the time you see one, get the mirror retracted and open the door it's too late and a passing bus takes your door with it. After all, it's not like you can open the door a fraction and squeeze out. I had auto-retract mirrors on my last 3 Alfas and it was a godsend for just that reason - dive out in a gap in traffic and worry about getting the mirror out of harms way once you were safely on the pavement. I'd retrofit if I could.

Danelaw 156
Perhaps there should be an Esprit style stubby mirror option - the Evora mirrors don't stick out much further than the bodywork anyway. This would reduce the weight and the drag. Having said that I like my series 1 mirrors. Initially hated the 400 mirrors, but even they're growing on me now. It seems for your preferred street parking you need the 400.

agentdr8 155
This post may be a bit "late to the party", but I'll be integrating a power mirror auto-fold module into my 11 Evora next week. I've already found the wires needed for this, and will likely write up a quick "how to" and post it over on LT. These modules can be found on eBay/Amazon for very little coin, and basically have a few relays that provide power to either side of the mirror fold circuit (for a few seconds) depending on door lock signals. I plan on wiring mine to fold the mirrors when the doors are locked (via fob), and unfold when the ignition is hot. Having the mirrors unfold on every door unlock would unnecessarily wear the motors, but it's also an available configuration. Edited May 6, 2016 by agentdr8
ramjet 1,092
I thought there was a topic on here about being able to make the Evora mirrors fold by the replacement of the mirror switch as all the wiring was already there?
