Gtechnique c2 v3... Amazing....

Recommended Posts

I was in a pistonheads run last weekend and ended up talking to a professional detailer. Told him it takes me 1:30 to put a coat of wax on my car. He told me about gtechnique c2 v3 which is a spray on wax. I was dubious so did some digging. It is the real deal! Protection lasts 4-8 months. You wipe on and buff off with no need to wait for it to dry. No residue leaving white lines. It can be applied to paint, plastics, rubbers and glass. Basically the entire car! Also this means it can be applied to our wheels.

Tried it today and it's so easy to use. I put it on the entire car including wheels in 25minutes! Looking forward to seeing how well it lasts. Seems a well regarded product on detaining world.

I used to use colinite 476 but no more!

Give it a go and get hours back!

My car was given the full Gtechniq treatment before I picked it up. I used the C2V3 at the start of the winter which really brought the shine out again (was advised to use it every 6-9 months)

Being a darkish colour I've also found that using the Gtechniq Quick Detailer after washing, when I can be arsed, helps get rid of water marks and drying smears.

Is it safe on paint protection film?  I have been advised by a leading supplier and installer of such films only to use hard wax as it has fewer solvents that damage the film.

I use DoDo Juice Diamond White hard wax.  It takes me just over an hour to was and wax the car.

That's low pressure jet wash, followed by snowfoam, 5 minutes dwell, rinse, shampoo with Bilt Hamber auto shampoo, rinse, dry, apply dodo juice using fingers, start buffing the first panel whilst the others are drying, black plastics done with a plastic wax.  Total time max is 1 hour 20 and if I am fast I can get it down to 1 hour if I forget the plastic was on the diffuser and edge of door mirror black plastic.

Wheels I was a couple of times a year with autogylm wheel wax and I do this off the car

Literally no idea how you do it that wuickly. Can't see how a spray based wax would damage ppf. Certainly nothing I have read about. I used to use poor boys on my alloys but will now use this.

Working my way through the cars, still need to do the lotus, but needs a machine polish first.

G1 and 2 on glass - rainex on speed!

C1 and C2V3 on paint and wheels

C4 on plastic trim (we have 2minis)

Fantastic stuff. Beaded water frozen all over the cars this morning but it doesn't stick so no need to scrape Windows. C2 lasts a good 6 months on C1 and will still bead better than most waxes, but will only last as long as what is under it.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

Its not hard to do it quickly.  The waxing stage take about 15-20 minutes.

Generally the more runny the "wax" the more solvents it contains.  The guys that advised me are recognised as the leading PPF film suppliers and installers.  They have tried various substances on the films, and soft wax and spray wax caused premature deterioration or discolouration.

Obviously, its each to his own, I prefer to play safe, and the hard wax gives a great finish with loads of beading.  I occasionally use a quick detailer or a sealant spary but not on the film protected parts.  The hard wax is great on the headlights too, I have no peeling lacquer

Wax wise I never found anything better than harlywax. Agree a good hard wax can be applied very quickly, much quicker than liquid waxes, and provide a lot of protection and excellent beading. Also no residues.

Having pretty much found my "wax for life" though, the easy of application and long lasting nature of the Gtechniq products is frankly astonishing, especially when you consider the minute quantities of product applied. I can't see me going back to wax.

I have long wanted to use their glass products but it's confusing - G1 G2 G5 etc..... !
Do I need to put on both G1 and G1 on my windscreen or just one type or 1,2,3 and 4 and 5?  It's not so obvious.

G1 is the product, G2 is used once G1 hazes over and is a solvent that softens G1 so you can buff it up. They come as a pair. This is all you need.

G5 looks to be a less long lasting product.  Looks more like RainX type thing. It's well over a year since I did the first cars in G1 and it's as good as the day done.

One of the other G products is a glass cleaner, but I just made sure they were clean and used a panel wipe to get any remaining grease off.

  • 1 month later...

Now we've all seen the sales blurb. How about real life?

Thought I'd post this up of the Merc. The last coat of C2V3 was about 2 months before this. The glass hasn't been touched for nigh on a year.

Apologies for the reflection - I have no idea who that ugly bugger is  :ermm:
