This is my own personal car which I have owned for nearly six years. Early Series 1 car with the single lift headlamp motor.
In the six years I have owned it I have completely restored it.The car was originally yellow all the paint was removed back to the Gel coat and the car has been fully repainted in Lotus Monaco white. It has been fully re trimmed in the tartan and green material with orange carpet as per the James Bond car specification .
The engine has been fully rebuilt by PNM Engineering and it has a new full stainless exhaust system .All the suspension has been rebuilt or replaced , the car looks as good underneath as it does on top .
I have made a service history file of the restoration and have invoices reaching just under £9000.
Very rare car in this condition any inspection welcome .

Looks good and will probably fetch somewhere near the asking price. I've heard of a couple of UK S1s fetching £60k recently. Both went to a collector in Japan which is a shame though as they won't get seen in this country on the roads.

Lotus Esprit [meaning] a 1:1 scale Airfix kit with a propensity to catch fire

Strong statement Tocus and if the car has to be completely original to command top money then why do so may people pay tens, sometimes, hundreds of thousands restoring Astons, Ferrari's and the others. Surely every new nut and bolt means the car is just that little bit more non original in your eyes so worth less?

And what about the returning to order of those so called barn finds, where literally there is the faint outline of the car left in the total pile of rust that is held together by bird poo and old paint, that then miraculously comes to the market some years later as totally restored mint find worth £gazillions?

And where to do you draw the line. I bet the original yellow paint was some oil based paint, where today, it's all water based isn't. So would it still be original if yellow but the wrong paint type? :~)

I agree with Barry - it is worth what the market is willing to pay. Some people would be happy to find a wrecked S1 and spend thousands of pounds and hours restoring it, and probably get more joy out of that process than driving it. Then, someone else would be happier to pay the premium to have the car to enjoy either by driving it (hopefully) or looking at it (a shame).

Don't take too much salt with your Sunday lunch today Tocus, would hate you to have a heart attack if someone else offered a colour changed car for sale :)

Mark - car looks really really nice. Far too rich for me (it would need to be a Series 3 was it HC Turbo in White for me at that price) but wish you well and hope it goes to a good owner who will drive it. love the orange carpet and tartan interior.
